Join Jim and Greg as they dish out two bad martinis and a crazy one. First, they sigh as reports from non-conservative sources say President Biden’s $1.9 trillion COVID relief bill will actually waste taxpayer dollars and do economic damage. They also cringe as Dr. Fauci suggests a new vaccine needs to be created to ward off the effects of the South African variant of COVID, but Jim explains why Fauci is probably wrong. And they wade into the news of Sen. Ted Cruz flying to Cancun while Texas is in crisis and the media reaction to it.

The criticism of Ted Cruz over going to Cancun is not just dumb – it is beyond dumb. If it had been an ERCOT director it might be justified. Might. Because it would be that guy’s job to keep the power grid up. But Cruz? Umm . . . federalism Jim and Greg . . .  federalism. There is less than nothing a US senator could do except get the hell out of the way. Which is what Cruz did.

Criticizing him reminds me of a joke about a Frenchman, an Englishman and a Russian all learning the world was ending tomorrow. The Frenchman said he was going to spend his last day with a fine meal, a vintage wine, and a beautiful woman. The Englishman said he was going to go for a long walk on the moor with his favorite dog. The Russian looked at the other two and said, “I’m going to burn down my neighbor’s barn.  It’s the same spirit. Insisting someone suffer needlessly because other people are suffering. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

I live in Gulf Coast Texas. I wish I had thought of splitting for Cancun and could afford it. I am not going to criticize someone who was smart enough to think of it and could afford the trip. My misery is not relived because someone else chooses to suffer when they did not need to.

Ted Cruz is a front-runner for the 2024 Republican Presidential nomination so, as far as the media are concerned, he needs to be destroyed.

The media also hope to use the Texas Freeze to turn the state blue.
