We Have Met the Enemy and She Is Us, Does This Explain Marie Harf?

Marie Harf box art V1_1600px

While I was uploading some large files, I decided to try my hand at video editing by taking three clips of everyone’s favorite State Department spokesperson, Marie Harf, saying that, “we can’t kill our way out of this war,” with Islamic State. She also implies that jobs is the answer to radical Islamic barbarism, that they need a different path in life. She delivers basically the same propaganda (shades of Susan Rice) to CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, MSNBC’s Chris Matthews and MSNBC Joe Scarborough (who wanted to give her a mulligan on her previous comments but she declined).

I’ve included a bonus clip of Col. Ralph Peters, appearing on Fox News, who said that, “Marie Harf is Exhibit A for the comprehensive failure of the US educational system,” which is absolutely priceless taken in the context of her remarks over the last two days.

I’m sure it’s great, but I couldn’t watch it. Thirty seconds in, I had to abandon ship. Her voice is not at all pleasant.

Listening to this woman talk is like hearing every silly liberal idea since 1960 condensed into fluffy powder.

She talks as if the US government hasn’t been trying to do this since Carter. Tens of billions in aid has flowed to these countries.

The administration she works for sent Libya into the chaos it’s in, allowed for chaos in Iraq for it’s own political reasons, and she speaks as though none of this happened. She talks like a teenager who has just emerged from a mandatory anti-bullying workshop in 10th grade with fresh insights. What a joke this administration is.

Now become the EJHill of video!

There seem to be opportunities for parody ISIS videos featuring Harf.

Kevin Williamson wrote a great piece on NRO explaining that for a career-minded person like Harf in our affluent society, the right job is everything. Harf studied poli sci and foreign affairs with a view toward working in government. When your entire life is centered around building a hammer for yourself, every problem begins to look like a nail.

The biggest problem from my perspective is that she is not actually good looking enough to overcome what is coming out of her mouth.

Thank you for all the comments. After the day that I had yesterday on my real job, waking up this morning, the sun was really shining. I really appreciate it.

Funny this is that the Blu-Ray box art took less than 15 minutes to produce. I thought that it looked pretty good. The videos didn’t take much time to find, a quick YouTube search with the filter set at “last 24 hours” but since I’m new at the video editing, it took time to insert the panels in front of each video. It’s not as smooth as I’d like. It did take almost a half hour just to upload the video to YouTube.

I have reservations about this. Some might see it as mean spirited. But Ms. Harf has such a body of work like this, so many pronouncements that are so much hot air double talk — she approaching Jay Carney levels of ineptitude — that I probably could do a true greatest hits collection. But who would listen to 60 minutes of this stuff in one sitting. And her voice… what more can I say?

I ask my fans, do you want more?

When a successful Army general tells me “we can’t kill our way out of this war”, I listen.

When a government flack uses the same formulation, I couldn’t care less.

Ironically, killing was a significant part of the Petraeus strategy for defeating the insurgency.

    Keep at it Traveler.

Anything gets better and faster with practice. Except maybe tai chi. That gets slower.

And her voice… what more can I say?

Thinking about it, a bit of stretching might help. She might be interesting were she speaking slowly in the bass register.

I keep wondering what it will take for this administration to wake up and get serious about dealing with this evil.  But when have we ever seen Obama reconsider his position about anything, admit a course change is required, and act upon it.  Never  (O.K, maybe gay marriage).  Instead, they stubbornly double down and refuse to discuss any alternative.  Conclusion:  I expect more of the same.

At least in the old days, the capitalists expected to turn a profit by selling the rope the enemy would use to hang us.

Today, the progressives want taxpayers to pay for that same rope.

May I repeat that this administration is not inept with their foreign “policy”.  From their perspective, the only evils in the world are their conservative and Republican opponents.  Their mission is, and has always been, to take the USA down a few pegs in the world hierarchy, since we got where we are by stealing and extorting everything we have from the poor and downtrodden of the world.  Obama sympathizes with Islamic terrorists, and will do whatever he has to to refrain from going after that enemy.  I wonder what he would do if a terrorist took over the Sidwell Friends school in DC, like the Pakistani Taliban did at the Army School.  Would his head explode?  In any case, they are getting exactly what they want, so don’t expect their behavior to change one bit.

Although she’s not blaming Bush, just using him to prop up the argument. Life’s little moronic ironies.

I can’t help but wonder how poor blacks in the inner cities feel about Obama’s focus on jobs for ISIS.

Totally here. I never heard her speak before. Wow.

The Daily Mail is saying that she won’t be promoted based on her recent television interviews.

Which begs the question: Why do I get news about the US government from UK dailies?

Why do I get so much news about the US from outside sources? You’d think they actually still have real reporters, or something.

Me too.  It’s not that so much that it’s unpleasant.  She sounds like  high school kid.

I’m tired of this phrase: “We can’t kill our way out of this war.”  What hog wash.  We can kill enough of them to break their will.  We didn’t kill our way out of WWII. Germany and Japan ultimately saw the futility of more of their dead.  We have to kill enough of the jihadist scum to dissuade anyone from more from thinking they can win.  Ultimately they have to be convinced that Allah is not on their side.  The only way to prove that is for them to suffer greatly.

Agree with all comments so far. This self-satisfied, truly deluded person is cringe-worthy.

But that reasoning – “we can’t kill them all, so let’s not try for any of them” reasoning sounds exactly like the “we can’t deport them all” rationale from the immigration debate.

If this reasoning is sound, then we might as well not try to stop drunk drivers, because “we’re never going to get them all”. We’re never going to stop ALL drugs in schools, so we ‘d better stop bothering to try.

Our effort IS a deterrence. And increased effort is increased deterrence. You will never get them all, but by getting as many as you can you stop new ones from trying. What is so hard about that to understand?

Kill terrorists. Keep on killing them, swiftly and without mercy or remorse. At the same time offer carrot/incentive/hand of friendship to those who would like to play nice.  Never stop either one. Whatever happens, happens.

Now a dedication to the Harf sisters.
