Funny… I used to go to the IKEA in Plymouth Meeting, PA and never ran into crazy line situations except at Christmas time. Always enjoyed going to IKEA. Maybe you guys are just a little too tightly wound. Try relaxing a little bit or take a Valium when you get there. Just a thought…

Correction: Chappelle’s story about shooting an intruder was not a “fake story”, but clearly presented as a hypothetical, explaining why you would load your shotgun with birdshot, buckshot, birdshot, buckshot, buckshot, buckshot, etc. A sane intruder would flee, once you “peppered him real good”with birdshot; the buckshot was for the intruder that wouldn’t be discouraged.

The part of the story presented as true was that a man carrying a rifle crossed his property, and Chapelle could do nothing but smile and wave “like a p*ssy”. Which is why he went to the gun store.

The punchline about all able-bodied black men buying guns leading to guns being banned didn’t work because it’s obviously untrue. Otherwise the South would be the heartland of gun control.

I think the Seinfeld thing with the fat-free yogurt was that people were adding all kinds of flavor stuff and fruit etc, that turned it into super-high calories.

I thought the black men buy guns to get gun control was hack, but I’ve been hearing that line for real in debate for years

For me, I think Chappelle did a disservice with the “F word/N word bit” then later thinking he had a pass to do the bad Asian stereotype bit because he’s married to an Asian woman.

Bring the Pain to me is still the gold standard of modern standup specials. I think Patton Oswalt in terms of narrative in his specials and Brian Regan/Norm in terms of joke craftsmanship are also good standard bearers. Murphy’s Delirious in the 80’s is a great special. But Carlin, Cosby, Pryor were masters.

and Robin Williams a Night at the Met I thought was genius in 86 or so. Less so, as I did comedy for a number of years and heard all the stories about joke theft, and watched his “improv” which was tired schtick when you see it over and over.

The old joke is that Chinese food makes you hungry an hour later

an old stereotype is that Chinese people own a lot of laundromats

thus the Rice diet would cause you to iron shirts every 2 hours.
