When was the last time Conservatives passed meaningful legislation that saved money and reduced bureaucracy? 2015.
When Congress, Senate and Pres Obama, passed the Every Student Succeeds Act. Which killed the now infamous and utterly incompetent No Child Left Behind Act.

A major overhaul of education that redirect power out of Washington and into the hands of the States. A major conservative victory if I ever saw one.
I am 63, which I believe is older than the inestimable Mona. And I completely sympathize with her regarding rock music. I never really cared for much of it, beyond the Rock Around The Clock stuff of the fifties. Even when I was a teenager. My Mom was out once, at some sort of give-away thing, I think. Don’t remember what it was. She won some rock and roll albums. And some guy said that her boy is gonna love those. “No, he won’t”, she told him. She was right. And the ear-splitting of it all!!!!!!!
And I loved the way she laughed as she described it! The way she made me laugh when she wrote “Uh-Oh”, after my comment on Jonah Goldberg’s new Podcast. She must be a Jonah fan, along with me!
What a gal!!
I dislike a lot of what talk radio has done to conservatism as much as Jay and Mona, but can you give me a few concrete examples of politicians trimming their opinions to pander to them? As opposed to the thousands of examples of conservatives that end up in Washington and mistake the swamp for a Jacuzzi [a great phrase.] I’ll start with my example: compare and contrast some of Tea Party Marco Rubio’s statements on immigration or entitlement reform in his 2010 primary against McConnell’s candidate, Charlie Crist, with the focus group language he tried to run for President with. If the 2010 Rubio had been on the ballot I honestly believe Trump could have been defeated.
I’ll give you what I believe is an example of a politician’s trimming his sales, Petty B: Paul Ryan. Now, I still admire Ryan. Don’t mistake me. But if he weren’t the Speaker I don’t think he’d be saying the things he now says about Donald Trump. I also believe he would not be talking about a possible 4th category in the new tax changes, were he not eager to please the wave of politicians we now have. I understand why he is doing it, and don’t blame him. You have to win to affect change. This does not mean, however, that I am not disappointed.
I will agree with you on that example.
George…what delightful post!
Thanks!!!
