You should adopt the American hick way of saying it: Get er’ done! Congratulations, it’s a long time coming.

It seems from afar that the only mandate was Brexit, so what else do you think the tories will do with their big majority?

Good luck on being carbon neutral by 2050. You’d better hope they figure out nuclear fusion.

It’s not dead. It will be back. They’ll just try to explain it better.

Does this mean that Jeremy has to give Tevye’s hat back?

Worth listening to the 7am address to the party faithful from the Queen Elizabeth Centre. Boris has a Carbon neutral/Corbyn neutral joke that he tried out twice with the identical effect. He boasts about carbon neutrality by 2050 then pauses… to complete silence. Then he delivers the Corbyn-neutral punchline and the room erupts onto cheers and whoops. He is clever enough to have noticed this nuanced nature of this response and be reflecting upon it. His hot young blond girlfriend is an environmentalist so there are other short-term reasons to seem to be toeing the line.

Like the Chinese, Boris understands that you can promise whatever the heck you want for thirty years in the future, without any possibility of accountability.

“Thirty years in the future” is a near synonym to “never”.

Thank you James and Toby for continuing to take a few minutes each week to comment on UK politics for us colonists. I particularly appreciate Toby’s helpful explanatory interjections ‘to the American listeners.’ I recall listening to your post-Brexit episode from 2016 and cannot believe it took so long to get to this point. Congratulations blokes!

Congrats, James and Toby! Just like after the 2016 Brexit vote, I turn to clips from Yes, Prime Minister/Yes, Minister to elucidate what the remainers, those who don’t want the people to have the power, the election losers, etc. are really thinking. This clip explains it well:
