Okay Kelly, you have to tell us. Do you wear hogwashers while working on your farm?
A question: Will there be a betting pool on this 365 challenge?
A particularly fun episode.
A young relative here in north Texas aspires to feed his family only meat he has hunted. His wife is willing to cook any of what he hunts except squirrel.
I had long wondered why so many fields in the West are circular. I wondered about the wasted corner spaces. Your comments revealed to me that the water is relatively more valuable than the land.
Us urban and suburban people need to hear more stories like that of your bee keeper colleague and how different parts of agriculture work together for mutual benefit. Otherwise we forget that when we decide one part is unnecessary or bad that can spill over to other areas. A tree at the house next door was taken over one afternoon by a colony of bees (not a welcome sight in a suburban tract of small houses). A man in town who keeps many hives and sells his honey locally was happy to come and collect another colony.
One last comment. Kelly, you should go for thirty days instead of an entire year. Just sayin’ . . .
I really enjoyed this episode! What are the rules for unexpected major life events, such as needing to travel to attend an out of town wedding or funeral?
