Jim Geraghty is joined by Chad Benson who is filling in for Greg Corombos for this episode where they cheer the unmasking of America and discuss some of the confusion this sudden change has created. They also discuss a growing problem at the border and some creative efforts to get more people vaccinated.

Every time she says “Grab a stool” I get all scatological and giggle like Beavis.

The unmasking announcements where made simply to drive the pipeline and gas line stories from the headlines. Nothing had changed they where holding onto it for a bad news cycle so they could change the story.

Why is it that the media have turned completely into saturation coverage of just 1 story each day? The one phrase that a news anchor used to say “And in other news…” … We dont hear that anymore it seems that there is no other news.

Well especially for TV, it’s the same problem as with other shows:  a “half-hour” show might now have only 20 minutes of actual content.

Yes, I liked the model of the Macneil/lehrer newshour – a quick read of the daily stories in the first segment – and 3 segments of in depth coverage or interviews for the rest of the show… I thought it was the most informative news cast on a non-news channel.

I’m reminded of British royal office, “Groom of the Stool”.  The courtier assisted the king with the call of nature.  The job has been abolished; even with the monarchy, some traditions don’t last forever.
