And What Does That Mean Exactly?

The actor who played Riff, leader of the Jets in West Side Story, put us all on notice:

Okay. I recently rewatched West Side Story, and was reminded how good he was, particularly in the dance-at-the-gym scene. He was hilarious in the third season of Twin Peaks, broadcasting madman diatribes from a trailer in the woods, and his long, crazy, irrelevant story had a sweet ending. It’s still maddening that Twin Peaks also featured Richard Beymer, and the third season didn’t find a way to bring them together, if only to look at each other and grin and snap their fingers.

He’s 85. This is Asner-level bluster. But:

Nothing?

Assassination?

Well no obviously that’s not on the table

Okay so some things are off the table. What, then, remains on the table? Burning down cities in protest? Unchecked riots? How about a strategic bombing of the Senate to get everyone’s attention?

Well no those are extreme measures

So what do you mean? Would it be too much to ask what, exactly, can be found on your table?

    How soon they forget.

And it’s been war for more than a decade, so just do it. This is too big an opportunity to allow to pass.

These idiotic tweets of the former Constitutional scholar cannot be shared enough.

I predict that if there is a vote before the election which is only 45 days away, the Dems will wipe out the legislative filibuster, expand the Supreme Court, and admit DC and Puerto Rico as states. I also predict that we will lose the Senate.

Since you are voting for Biden, and I think you voted against Martha McSally at least once, who is we?

    The Arizona Democrats of course.

I worry about what Riff and the other Jets are planning to do. These juvenile delinquents have taken years of modern dance classes. Some of them – heaven help us! – can even do tap.

Modern police technology would be no match for their switchblades and smart aleck remarks.

So basically, what you’re saying is that they’re pretty much going to do what they’ve been planning for years. Because that’s all on the agenda. They are sick of the Constitution preventing their grand utopian design and if they can’t change it via amendment they will nullify it by rigging the remaining structure of government. And you and your Lincoln Project buddies will be listed as co-conspirators in its death.

Don’t forget the vote for non citizens and removing the Electoral College.

She says that because when the right wins, leftists get violent. So I guess it is our problem.

The left’s answer to everything is violence. Violence on the right is almost non-existent, for good reason. The left would be stomped out real quick if the right retaliated.

Until then, they’ll burn down their own leftist slums. More of the same.

But the left claims that the violence is all on the right. Have you seen Biden’s latest ad? My liberal friends have the same view. All of the violence in the cities are due to white supremacists. At best, they say there is violence from both sides. I just received a group email from one claiming that she fears violence if Trump gets elected. But no one fears violence if Biden gets elected, not even her. Yet still they persist in saying that violence is a problem of the right.

Well, of course it’s all the Right’s fault. If we just let them have their way, there wouldn’t be any violence. Just as three-year-olds wouldn’t throw tantrums if their parents allowed them to do as they wish.

Related to the final question @jameslileks asks, when are we supposed to take the Left’s claims seriously or not? The Left seems to expect us to take seriously their various “woke” claims of oppression and the need to change everything about Western Civilization. So are we to take seriously the many promises made since Friday afternoon that they will commit arson on a grand scale (“burn it all down”), commit other acts of violence against people, etc.? If those people are arrested for “inciting to riot” and “conspiracy to commit arson” are they going to claim “it was hyperbole”? Through a lot of experience, most of us have developed a pretty good measuring stick for knowing when President Trump is being hyperbolic. But, our experiences this summer leave us uncertain about the intentions of the people of the Left when they start using extreme language. And if they tell us we should not take their threats of violence seriously, why should we take anything else they say seriously?

Yes, this. Take them seriously. And in fact, if one of the Senators does get a little mouthy with threats, send in the FBI to investigate.

Do what they DoE to Princeton: “You say your institution is systematically racist? Okay, we’re gonna have to take you at your word and possibly withhold all federal funding.”

Do the same thing with anyone — especially elected Democrats and media figures — who promises violence. “We take such threats seriously, and now you are under arrest.”

Make them suffer the consequences of escalating rhetoric.

I believe the Dems will claim we should take them seriously but not literally- where have I heard that before?

Can the Dems show us a 30 year history of hyperbole to justify a “seriously but not literally” claim such as the history we had with Mr. Trump? Because recent history in Minneapolis (MN), Kenosha (WI), Portland (OR), Seattle, Chicago, Rochester (NY), and others suggest we should take Leftist threats of arson and violence literally and seriously.

The Dems will claim any hint that they can abstract from a Republican’s speech is a hate crime & incitement to violence- but insist that overt threats by them are nothing of the sort (nothing is off the table….there will be a war etc). Since they don’t believe in the existence of truth they will continue to contort reality to fit their agenda- systemic racism, biological sex is a social construct – you could go on & on…
