And What Does That Mean Exactly?

The actor who played Riff, leader of the Jets in West Side Story, put us all on notice:

Okay. I recently rewatched West Side Story, and was reminded how good he was, particularly in the dance-at-the-gym scene. He was hilarious in the third season of Twin Peaks, broadcasting madman diatribes from a trailer in the woods, and his long, crazy, irrelevant story had a sweet ending. It’s still maddening that Twin Peaks also featured Richard Beymer, and the third season didn’t find a way to bring them together, if only to look at each other and grin and snap their fingers.

He’s 85. This is Asner-level bluster. But:

Nothing?

Assassination?

Well no obviously that’s not on the table

Okay so some things are off the table. What, then, remains on the table? Burning down cities in protest? Unchecked riots? How about a strategic bombing of the Senate to get everyone’s attention?

Well no those are extreme measures

So what do you mean? Would it be too much to ask what, exactly, can be found on your table?

“…Democrats and Joe Biden have made clear they intend to challenge this election, they intend to fight the legitimacy of the election. As you know, Hillary Clinton has told Joe Biden: Under no circumstance should you concede, you should challenge this election. And we cannot have Election Day come and go with a 4-4 Court. A 4-4 Court that is equally divided cannot decide anything,” said Cruz, adding: “And I think we risk a constitutional crisis if we do not have a 9-Justice Supreme Court, particularly when there is such a risk of a contested litigation, and a contested election.”

As The Daily Wire previously reported, 2016 Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton told Jennifer Palmieri, her former campaign communications director, during an interview that Biden shouldn’t concede “under any circumstances” because she believes the election will drag on. She also mentioned that Democrats will need a “massive legal operation.”

Earlier this week, The New York Times reported that the Biden campaign was establishing a major legal operation with hundreds of lawyers, a move that senior Biden officials told the Times was necessary to protect the integrity of the election

That’s always been my take.  If you’re looking for integrity, hire a bunch of lawyers to work for a presidential campaign.  It literally smacks of integrity.

    SMACKS, I tells ya.

I predict that if there is a vote before the election which is only 45 days away, the Dems will wipe out the legislative filibuster, expand the Supreme Court, and admit DC and Puerto Rico as states. I also predict that we will lose the Senate.

And that is what you are for, because you want them to win.

And they are going to do it anyway.

Lame duck sessions effectively violate the Constitution by refusing elected representatives their full terms in office. We elect politicians to serve from election to election, not from season to season.

The Federalists use if a lame duck session belies that point.

RBG has been tethered to her earthly existence by a spider’s thread for the last decade.  Much as the Dems worshipped her and wanted her to live forever, she ended up a mere mortal and now she faces her maker, arguing in favor of infanticide for her eternal soul.  She will lose that one last case.  Nonetheless, conservatives always knew that when RBG went by the boards, it would cause an unprecedented, seismic reaction by the Democrats, a reaction that would make the Bork, Thomas and Kavanaugh appointments look like sweet sixteen celebrations.  They seek a judge who can ignore our constitution and through precedent, cement their enduring domination and tyranny.  But worse, they want a court that exonerates them for the destruction of their own progeny.  They not only want to defy the laws of the land; they want to defy the laws of nature and be lauded for it.

If the next nominee, probably female,  is also met with shrieking, door-clawing, threatening mobs just like Kavanaugh, I wonder how many voters will think “wait a minute! Maybe all that fuss wasn’t the result of righteous indignation about heinous male sexual violence against women?”

I remember having a conversation with a friend about marital arguments, and how they can turn into a weird kind of arms race. First, you have a fight in which you are hurt! shocked! outraged! by something your husband has done. So you yell at him. Yelling does the trick for at least a few more fights, but then the time comes when he does something, and you are hurt! shocked! outraged! yelling doesn’t really have the expressive value it once had. So you escalate to, say, shrieking obscenities. And that seems to work (“work” in the sense, at least, of allowing you to feel you’ve made your objections known). But after awhile it doesn’t…and so it ratchets up…and before you know it, you’re smashing coffee cups and demanding a divorce because he was twenty minutes late.

Need I add that a sub-culture (if not the wider culture) that agrees that a woman always has a reason to be pissed off at a man tends to justify this sort of thing?

“Keep your powder dry” would’ve been good advice to the Democrats back in 2017.  They are fast running out of expressive options; at some point, the country may just conclude “okay, but you’re kind of a bitch.”

Related to the final question @jameslileks asks, when are we supposed to take the Left’s claims seriously or not? The Left seems to expect us to take seriously their various “woke” claims of oppression and the need to change everything about Western Civilization. So are we to take seriously the many promises made since Friday afternoon that they will commit arson on a grand scale (“burn it all down”), commit other acts of violence against people, etc.? If those people are arrested for “inciting to riot” and “conspiracy to commit arson” are they going to claim “it was hyperbole”? Through a lot of experience, most of us have developed a pretty good measuring stick for knowing when President Trump is being hyperbolic. But, our experiences this summer leave us uncertain about the intentions of the people of the Left when they start using extreme language. And if they tell us we should not take their threats of violence seriously, why should we take anything else they say seriously?

And elections they do not win mean nothing to them.   Who can forget “Not my President” and the bogus impeachment?

What’s sad is the lie that Republicans are a party of white power.

But spread it, because that only strengthens the steely resolve of those who aren’t for white power, but for freedom.

One thing that belies the democrats is their eternal and vocal resistance to charter schools.

    Talk about white power.

I believe the Democrats will attempt all they say.

May all those who hope and pray for better see the truth and say NO to the Democrats plan to rule by bullying, threats, violence and murder, and war.

Their unhinged reaction to even the possibility of loss tells all.

They started foaming at the mouth in Hollywood within 24 hours, spewing threats and foul language, so nothing new to see there. Liberals having been making threats since Trump came down the escalator, so nothing new there either.  Before the 2016 election, a liberal friend, who was trying to get me to vote for Clinton, sent me James Carville’s book called Why We’re Right and They’re Wrong. I read it …….and they were wrong.

They cannot win on their own merit for some reason. They have to lie, cheat, steal, burn, loot, threaten so they never get anything done to make you want to vote for them.

PS I thought it was in very bad taste for the so-called statement out by the granddaughter of Ruth Bader-Ginsberg to NPR, that her last words were she did not want to be replaced by this president. First, I don’t believe it, and second, if he wins a 2nd term, he will be anyway. May God rest her soul.

So, by war do they mean that they go out with their guns and we go out with our guns and see who wins? Seemed like a forgone conclusion.

    So thought the Spanish Republicans.

Can you imagine the support China and Russia would pour into the country to support an insurrection?  Honestly, except for fear of intercontinental nuclear retaliation, I can even imagine Newsom inviting the Chinese to land several divisions of their army on the California coast, much as the international brigades did in Spain.

A new civil war will not be like our last one.  It will be like the Spanish Civil War.  Neighbors will line neighbors up against a wall.  Let us hope it never starts.  I love my neighbors.

Without paper ballots and with modern technology, there is no reason why we could not have a much shorter time between election day and the newly elected taking office severely reducing the lame duck possibilities. It just takes appropriate legislation

This would take a constitutional amendment.  It’s still possible, but it’s not just a matter of legislation.

Yes, this. Take them seriously. And in fact, if one of the Senators does get a little mouthy with threats, send in the FBI to investigate.

Do what they DoE to Princeton: “You say your institution is systematically racist? Okay, we’re gonna have to take you at your word and possibly withhold all federal funding.”

Do the same thing with anyone — especially elected Democrats and media figures — who promises violence. “We take such threats seriously, and now you are under arrest.”

Make them suffer the consequences of escalating rhetoric.

So basically, what you’re saying is that they’re pretty much going to do what they’ve been planning for years. Because that’s all on the agenda. They are sick of the Constitution preventing their grand utopian design and if they can’t change it via amendment they will nullify it by rigging the remaining structure of government. And you and your Lincoln Project buddies will be listed as co-conspirators in its death.
