Democrats Pick the Wrong Fight
If I were a Democrat in a district that Trump won, this would be my “uh-oh” moment.

@garyrobbins, I hope you listen to this.
Especially Lee Zeldin, starting at 11:00.
It only gets uglier from here.
What do you expect? Democrats are ugly people, right down to the core.
The greatest threat to the American democracy is the normalization of the democrat strategy in the 2016 election. I had hoped that prosecutions would have taken place to ensure that did not happen. Now this far along there have been no prosecutions, and I fear that these tactics may become standard practice on the left. For example:
All of these practices where rare in American politics until the Obama administration. These practices are the far greater threat to the democracy than anything the Russians did, or are feared to have done during the election.
Trump was naive when he entered office. He should have emptied every single office of every single Obama appointment – and left those offices empty until congress approved his nominees. He should have conducted thorough investigations of all the early leaks and suspended every suspect’s clearance until they where cleared, and thirdly when leakers where identified they should have been fired and prosecuted.
All of this mess could have been avoided if all the Obama rats had been drowned on Jan 20 2017, instead of leaving them to fester inside his camp.
Amen!
Watching the clip, I felt I was in an alternate universe to the alternate universe we seem to have been living through recently. Did my eyes and ears deceive me? Republicans unified ? Republicans fighting back against Democrats? Republicans as vertebrates?
Who knew?
Thanks for the clip, Franco!

Gary? Don’t want you to miss this.

Two Democrats with integrity: Collin Peterson and Jefferson Van Drew.
Two Democrats who want to get reelected.
I made comments to this effect on several threads when Trump first entered the White House. We know that Comey bull rushed General Flynn by not following normal protocols when the FBI agents went to the White House to interview Flynn without even asking for a clearance from White House Counsel. The ‘deep state’ CIA operatives and others on the NSC staff were doing the same during this period. That early stage was very precarious because of the need to have at least some staff to carry out routine matters. But you can bet they were already undermining the President.
EDITED to add: The man now being identified as the ‘whistleblower’, a CIA analyst, worked on the NSC staff until July 2017 and is alleged to have contributed to the lead up resulting in the Russia hoax and then the appointment of Special Counsel Mueller.
Swing district Democrats returning to their home areas for the holidays may want to avoid any Town Hall meetings, if the alternative is to try and have to explain/justify the impeachment conditions currently in place from Schiff and Pelosi to the local voters.
Franco,
Thanks for this. I hadn’t seen it. For the first time, I am proud of the Republican House. Kevin McCarthy really is leading and his team obviously has the depth. Whatever they need to do it’s time to do it. Every single day they need to get in the face of the cabal of bastards that would let the country rot for their own short-sighted partisan gain.
Hit them and don’t stop hitting them.
Regards,
Jim
“Soviet style”
Yes, this is exactly what the democrat party has become in the past couple of decades. They aren’t even subtle anymore.
I’ve never seen so many congressmen wearing the same lapel pin before. What is the nature of that pin?
It looks like its this pin here.

I support the impeachment and removal of Trump. I think Pence would do a better job as President and the nation would be better off.
It’s not as though if Trump were removed Hillary Clinton or Elizabeth Warren would be put in his place. I think Pence would do a great job.
James Madison said during the Virginia ratifying convention that the Constitution provided “one security” against a president who urged a crime and then pardoned it: impeachment and removal.
Madison said that impeachment of a president was a necessary means of protecting the country from “the incapacity, negligence, or perfidy of the Chief Magistrate.”
If Trump were to be removed there’s no way Pence would win in 2020. The Republican brand would be way too damaged to win.
Not necessarily.
Trump isn’t very good at making arguments in favor of conservatism other than saying things like “Loser!” and “Traitor!”
Pence would be able to articulate why a conservative vision would be better for the country than a socialist vision.
The Democrats would have a difficult time beating Pence because Pence would be able to make the case, not just to those who already support the conservative vision, but to those who haven’t made their mind up yet.
Let’s say Pence is President tomorrow. He has a year until the election. I like Pence. He’s a nice guy. But do you really think he’s going to even win the Republican nomination? There will be challenges, and even if he gets the nomination, he’ll be damaged goods going into the election.
Few Republicans other than you are going to vote for any Senator who voted for Trump’s conviction. This is the real problem. If they vote to convict, the Democrats will take the Senate. They already have the House. If we run Pence, they’ll have the whole of Congress and the Presidency on January 20th, 2021.
And that’s the best-case scenario. Worst case, the Republic falls in the civil war that removing Trump will provoke.
Sure he will, but who will be listening? You and twelve other folks at Mr. Excitement’s rallies? The mainstream media won’t be helping. The media of “our side” will be supporting the hundred other candidates who pop up. Do you think other Republican politicians don’t look in the mirror and see a PotUS?
Again, I like Pence, but he is not Mr. Charisma.
This is one of the manifold problems with Con Inc. The electorate will not sit and listen for the time it takes to tell them of the glories of conservatism. 20 seconds in, the good man Mike has just been inserted into the Hand Maids Tail.
HW, have you stopped hating woman yet ?
See how that works ?
So who is working to recruit strong Republican candidates for House and Senate seats to oppose the Democrats? I keep seeing where Republican members of Congress are not running for re-election. Do we have strong candidates to replace them or are we just going to let the Dems win?
Even to the point that they have a vast network of stoolies in neighborhoods like this to help with each and every gaslighting campaign.
Gee, if only some billionaire would give everyone in the country a subscription to National Review, all our problems will be solved!
Absolutely. And even if the media on “our side” ( getting harder to determine that exactly…) were all in for Mikey, it wouldn’t matter. What world is this guy living in?
We still have people who believe we can lecture and roll-model our way into power?
Hard to imagine after witnessing the last 20 years.
But his tweeeeets! : (
I’ve been saying for a while now if the #NeverTrumpers were smart, they’d already be pointed towards 2024, and finding a candidate who they can be comfortable with but who could also have a chance at winning over the majority of Trump’s supporters and who has a strong enough identity not to be swamped by Trump’s persona (because anyone who thinks he’s fading quietly into the background in 2024 has to be mainlining strong hallucinogenics). Trump is going to be the nominee in 2020, and unless they’re fine with blowing up the entire GOP and giving the Democrats the sort of control in 2021-22 they had in 2009-10, nothing they do is going to keep Trump from being the nominee in 2020.
I wonder if newspapermen in the 30’s were annoyed at FDR’s radio addresses? I think that’s analogous. Except for the part about FDR being a lefty and Trump being a righty.
