Clear that, like The Lincoln Projecct, The Bulwark, and Kristol’s other front groups, you’re just a Democrat.

Like I said in the above comment, John Ziglar’s interview on Whisky Politics just wipes the floor with these guys.

They self-wipe, actually. I mean anyone with half a brain can see right through their charade. Even Democrats mock them. Everyone knows they’re in it for the graft.

I’m really curious what’s going to become of these people who blew up their established conservative reputations (fake as they were) for the short-term graft of rejecting all their previously-claimed conservative views.

Nobody trusts them anymore and nobody should. Nobody’s going to hire them to work on campaigns. Everyone knows they’ll stick a knife in your back as soon as someone flashes more cash at them. Who would hire Steve Schmidt or Rick Wilson to work on any campaign? All they have left now is writing hate-filled books and getting booked on MSNBC to play footsie with Don Lemon while mocking the working class.

f the things I’ll miss most about the NR cruises was seeing John Yoo slinking back to his cabin from the casino without a shirt . . .

    Been there, done that.

Been there, done that, many times, and miss it. A lot. Time for a Ricochet cruise! Who’s in?

    Would you have me?

Well, I was thinking. If you came on the ship, and were willing to help fundraise for Ricochet, we could sell out the cruise. Would you mind taking a few cream pies or sitting in a carnival dunk tank? Like the boss at the company picnic or the principal at school carnival, people would line up for it.

    (This is humor, for reference.)

Only if Kozak, Drew or Bryan also sits for the cream pie event!

@garyrobbins — “Why in the world is the Republican Party destroying itself over Trump? The clear rational thing to do now is to cut Trump loose, and for Republican Senators to try to save themselves.”

If you had read the comments, instead of just doing a drive-by, you would have seen that Bereket Kelile (#65) had already answered your question. Trump is (deservedly) more popular with the Party than they are.

You will never see this because I’m sure you’ve jumped out of the comments by now, but you are a fascinating case of inability to learn from experience. Being anti-Trump was an arguably rational position for a conservative in 2016 — I was anti-Trump then, myself — but it is absurd now.

In Arizona, Trump won by 3% in 2016.  Historically, Republicans “fall in line” much more than Democrats, and show up and vote for the nominee.

Trump won 94% of Arizona Republicans in 2016.  But if that percentage goes down to 85%, Trump loses.

Sorry, but the Democrats completely impoverished me. The Democrats you want to elect. There’s no way I can afford to go on a cruise. Couldn’t find the time anyway, since I have to work two jobs to make ends meet, thanks to the Democrats. The Democrats you want to elect. The Democrats who are destroying our lives.

There’s another aspect to the enthusiasm gap and that’s the enthusiasm of the respective front runners.

One is energized and putting in a hectic travel schedule asking for your vote to exuberant throngs of voters.

The other is struggling to emerge from his basement, doesn’t appear in front of audiences, doesn’t take any unscripted questions, speaks for no more than 30 minutes (at most) and frankly looks exhausted from a sparse schedule devoid of any real campaign events.

It’s been my sense, in the six and a half decades that I’ve lived on this planet and began paying attention to elections at a very early age (since my family was always quite fascinated with politics) that voters want you to court them. If you’re too tired or physically incapable of doing that…it comes across that you don’t really care that much whether you get the job or not. And typically when that happens, you don’t get it.

I don’t buy the line that Biden doesn’t have to do anything and he will still win because the polls currently show him leading. And I think there are other aspects of this race that the traditional polling isn’t capturing. So, stay tuned.

Biden isn’t running as Biden.  Biden is running as “not Trump”.  For a lot of voters he doesn’t Have to do anything but be Not Trump.

The pollsters won’t do it, because to ask the question would be to confirm the unspoken truth on the left about Biden’s mental state, but it would be interesting to see what the poll numbers look like if people were asked who they would vote for, if they knew Kamala Harris would take over as president sometime during the first 6-18 months of Biden’s term. My suspicions are the needle would barely move, with the #NeverTrump folks twisting themselves into pretzels to convince themselves and others that Kamala’s just as moderate as Joe.

I felt better listening to this podcast.

In a 2016, pre-election podcast, Rob Long stated (maybe not word for word, but darn close) with ontological certitude, “Look, it is mathematically impossible for Trump to win the election.  All you Trump fans need to get over it.”

Him making such dire predictions in 2020 was a booster.  Thanks, Rob!

Although, I must say that I take a little umbrage with calling motivated, dedicated Republicans who will do what they can whatever the polls say as infants “banging the spoon on their high chair.”

Comment made me want to bang on something.

Remember, last time Trump took them by surprise. Expecting him to lose anyway, the media and the social media did not put on a full court press.

Similarly, in 1988, for example, the media expected the “pendulum” to “swing”, and so covered the election with less bias then they might have. But by 1992 they were loaded for bear and made sure that the Democratic candidate would win.

In Florida 2000, the media actually called the election for Gore while the polls were still open in the Florida Panhandle; probably costing Bush 10,000 votes, but also encouraging Democratic operatives to throw away the fraudulent ballots that, I suspect, they had available if needed.  So when the Democrat-controlled Florida Supreme Court kept desperately calling for more recounts, it was too late for the operatives to “miraculously discover“ an uncounted stash of ballots.

Of course, 2020 is not a normal election. The Democrats will be able to manufacture millions of mail ballots if they need them.

They’re already doing it. Ballot harvesting via “early voting” in Madison yesterday even though it’s illegal here. Early voting is not allowed to begin here until two weeks prior to the election. But our Wisconsin Elections Board is Democrat-controlled, so they frowned a little, but that’s it.

No one believes the convenient, self-serving fantasy that trading with China will bring civil rights and democracy any more.

Also, Trump has blown up the media’s game of pretending to be impartial, even as they slip the knife into Republicans and conservatives.  Republicans know where they stand now, which is a good thing.  It helps to know your enemies.

For millions of white, working class voters, Trump has broken the ice, in terms of pulling the lever for Republican candidates for the first time.
