Mentally gone, for sure.
One of the things I’ll miss most about the NR cruises was seeing John Yoo slinking back to his cabin from the casino without a shirt . . .
Nice that we have more international listeners. Where did you learn English?
At least he’d quit before losing his pants, too?
I think the problem with Rob’s reasoning on dumping Trump is that he has amazingly high approval ratings among Republicans, higher than Bush got (I think) and certainly higher than anyone would’ve guessed in 2016. So, Rep candidates down ballot who may not be the most enthusiastic Trump supporters have to take that into consideration. You’re not dumping Trump; you’re dumping your own base.
Been there, done that.
If he has Jonah’s problem, he better.
Been there, done that, many times, and miss it. A lot. Time for a Ricochet cruise! Who’s in?
I would be, if I could afford it.
But, I’m told it’s best not to meet your heroes.
Yeah, you shouldn’t meet @blueyeti. 😈
Finally. Why in the world is the Republican Party destroying itself over Trump? The clear rational thing to do now is to cut Trump loose, and for Republican Senators to try to save themselves. Why hasn’t every Republican Senator gone to the microphone to denounce Trump like Charlie Baker, the Massachusetts Republican Governor? Instead, the Republican Senatorial Committee has a death wish. At this point, what is important for me is not only for Trump to lose but for us to lose some senators so that the Wooden Stake is driven deep into the heart of Trumpism, so that no Senator never, ever prostitutes himself so slavishly as Lindsey Graham.
I gave $100 twice to Jamie Harrison who is running against Graham. I didn’t give again to Mark Kelly because my mother likes Martha McSally. I gave $100 to the best Democrat running for the Senate, Steve Bullock of Montana. I gave $100 each to the Dems running for the Senate in Alaska and Iowa, and had to look up their names. After Ted Cruz ran his mouth in committee, and Amy Klobuchar took him apart on You Tube, I kicked her $100.
Biden has more money than he needs. Heck, I hear his ads on Three Martini Lunch. He doesn’t need my money. My biggest contribution to him was the day he announced, to help him kick off. But I am white-hot angry at the scourge of Trumpism and desperately want to see it dumped on the ash heap of history. I have given away dozens of t-shirts that say “Republicans for Biden.” I have ordered a dozen more to give away. I even gave $100 to the Dem running in N.J.-2 against the “Democrat turned Republican“ Representative who sold out on impeachment.
I am not doing this because I love the Democrats. I don’t. I am really going to hate their policies. But what is most important is to completely and terminally eradicate Trump and Trumpism, to save my country and my party. I look at the people Trump has fired. McMaster, Mattis, Kelly. I look at the people who have left in disgust, and listen to them at RVAT and The Lincoln Project.
Finally on the Ricochet Podcast I heard the sanity that we need to move away from the Trump wreck. Finally! Thank you for the opportunity to get that off of my chest.
Would you have me?
Is single payer worth it?
Gary, why is trump President? Comprehensively explain to us how that happened. The economy, culture, the education system, media, China, wage deflation and job destruction from automation and globalized trade, RNC incompetence etc.
Aren’t you glad this is exposed?
Getting rid of Trump and Trumpism is worth it.
Why not just start a nuclear war to do that? It would work.
Single payer is impossible to undo.
Never Trump has so many faulty models in their heads.
That would go too far for me. However a stunning defeat at the ballot box would get the job done.
Apparently, you have a problem with winning.
I, on the other hand, have not tired of it. #tump2020. #maga.
Same t’ing. Either way, the country as founded is over.
Well, I was thinking. If you came on the ship, and were willing to help fundraise for Ricochet, we could sell out the cruise. Would you mind taking a few cream pies or sitting in a carnival dunk tank? Like the boss at the company picnic or the principal at school carnival, people would line up for it.
(This is humor, for reference.)
No it won’t.
You and the traitors to conservatism you support are not coming back ever. The one joy I have is that you will spend the rest your life in the political wilderness no matter what happens.
You will have to suffer.
The whole topic of who is going to be PNG or exiled going forward is pretty interesting. Heath Mayo has been really explicit with threats like that.
I’m in, but only if Rob spends some money to get the ship ready:
Trump is improving the Republican party. He’s shaking out the deadwood pols that were high on rhetoric but low on action and replacing them with individuals who put accomplishments over posturing . . .
I don’t want to be governed by anybody that is funded by Pierre Omidyar, (The Bulwark et. al.) or that has gigantic TV contracts in the liberal media now. I don’t know why anybody would.
I just listened to the whiskey politics interview of John Zigler. It is must listen. People are going to get mad because he hates Trump, but he absolutely nails the organized Never Trump for what they really are. His COVID-19 policy analysis is really good, too. I really recommend listening to this.
I’ve got to teach you kids how to link things.
@garyrobbins — “Why in the world is the Republican Party destroying itself over Trump? The clear rational thing to do now is to cut Trump loose, and for Republican Senators to try to save themselves.”
If you had read the comments, instead of just doing a drive-by, you would have seen that Bereket Kelile (#65) had already answered your question. Trump is (deservedly) more popular with the Party than they are.
You will never see this because I’m sure you’ve jumped out of the comments by now, but you are a fascinating case of inability to learn from experience. Being anti-Trump was an arguably rational position for a conservative in 2016 — I was anti-Trump then, myself — but it is absurd now.
95% approval for the President among Republicans. Looks pretty unified to me. Why are you destroying yourself over President Trump? A party in the midst of destroying itself wouldn’t be so unified.
If you’re so Republican, why are you trying to see Republicans defeated? I thought you just wanted to defeat the President, but here you are working to have other Republicans defeated. Clear that, like The Lincoln Projecct, The Bulwark, and Kristol’s other front groups, you’re just a Democrat.
White-hot angry? You really should get some therapy. I’m serious.
Also, what is “Trumpism”?
But you’re happy to force that disaster on everyone else because of your prissy attitude towards the President. It’s not Country First or Party First for Gary. It’s Gary First.
Yeah, because you’ve been bottling up your hate for four years, haven’t you?
