James Arthur Jemison is the Chief of Planning and Director of the Boston Planning and Development Agency, is a seasoned public-private development leader with 28 years of planning and affordable housing expertise. Formerly Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), he oversaw key programs and partnerships with local governments. His career includes impactful roles in Detroit, Washington D.C., and Boston, contributing to equitable growth and recovery. Jemison holds a BA from UMass Amherst and a Master of City Planning from MIT and has received multiple awards for his contributions to urban development.
