Ricochet is the best place on the internet to discuss the issues of the day, either through commenting on posts or writing your own for our active and dynamic community in a fully moderated environment. In addition, the Ricochet Audio Network offers over 50 original podcasts with new episodes released every day.
Got a new piping hot GLoP for you, and we aren’t kidding about the pipe, as that ancient smoking accoutrement is discussed in great detail in today’s show. We also cover C-Span’s Steve Scully’s fall from grace, the media and big tech’s latest in kind contribution to the Biden-Harris campaign, courtesy of Hunter Biden and the New York Post, that time Rob ran into Dick Clark, board games. and why Antonin Scalia was the coolest Supreme Court Justice in history.

Most of the time it wasn’t just a basic physical threat. You can’t expect Worf to defeat Q or the Borg or 3 Romulan ships or the Cardassian Empire with his fists or Bat’leth.
Point taken. I emailed Max.
All they – and the media – have to do is say “there is no record of any such meeting” and it all goes away.
I really liked the story about the casting of Michael Dorn as Worf. The calling call was for a black male. Dorn came to the casting session fully in character from the moment he walked in the door until he walked out the door. He got the part, by being the part.
Another great episode of GLoP.
As for the negative reviews, I would simply suggest that with 18 days to go, most everybody at Ricochetti has their blood up. It will likely get worse, instead of better, at least until Election Day.
As requested…
Such a disappointment, these are normally quite good. Biden’s son peddling access to some eastern european sketchy outfit for 50k a month? Laughter. Tech companies crushing free speech and altering search results to influence an election. Laughter. “MAGA Barbie” uttered by a father with a daughter. Laughter. You guys are off the rails. I hope its just a symptom of your crazy election and not a reveal of your true characters.
Well, you have to remember guys, while poor Kayleigh went to Georgetown and Harvard, the ever erudite Jonah went to Groucher College (as Ace of Spades hilariously put it, ‘yes, The Groucher College‘). So, he can look down on MAGA Barbie from that high intellectual perch.
But seriously, I listened to Jonah’s last solo podcast and he said that phrase ‘I tell the truth as I see it’ literally around ten times. This is a tick of someone going through some serious intellectual atrophy.
Wish it wasn’t Breitbart. I hope others pick it up.
I suspect that they dont say that, because they know their are photos (at least cell phone pics) like the other golf outings we’ve seen with other executives out there. The Post is running this like James O’keefe releasing each story as a rebuttal to the Biden campaign. If they went down that line – the next day the photo is on the front page of the newspaper.
“But that could be a photo of ANY meeting between CCP officials and Joe Biden…”
True it would come down to the meta data on the photo. The meta data would have the date and time the photo was taken – and some cameras can put GPS data in there too.
And I’m sure that stuff is totally foolproof…
And none of the other, self-styled geniuses called him on it!
Wouldn’t it be funny if Jonah is the one who’s BEST at math?!?!?!
Mollie’s a journalist. Jonah’s a half-assed entertainer, at least he thinks so.
Well, Jonah is a half-assed entertainer, perhaps, but he think he’s an intellectual.
‘I tell the truth as I see it’ – is that like having “My Truth”?
My understanding is that Google has, in effect, shadow banned Breitbart — by adjusting its algorithms so that it doesn’t come up in search results (unless the search argument includes “Breitbart”).
In an even more sinister version, the algorithm lets only conservatives see conservative websites, while making sure that independents and undecided voters see nothing but liberal sites.
And they get peoples’ voting records from….?
They deduce them from your previous searches. Remember, they don’t need to be perfectly accurate.
Sounds like that makes google a really bad idea for anyone trying to do general research, including for an academic paper or such, if they keep showing you only what they think you want to see based on previous searches.
Someone else might have mentioned this, but John’s memory of Diplomacy is VERY flawed, since first, you can play either WWI or WWII, and second, you realize that if you are Germany, you have no options but to be very aggressive, because your borders are so vulnerable that you are probably screwed no matter what… minor point in a hot mess of a conversation?
The default position is that John is always wrong, so him getting something right would be news.
I haven’t played Diplomacy since about 1989, but I don’t recall a WWII option.
Yes. It has been a long time since Google was really a search engine. What you get now is curated results to maximize ad revenue and (more recently) to push a political viewpoint.
You can use Startpage.com to route your Google search through an anonymizer so it won’t be your history they are using for the results.
Oh, Rob’s old podcast (Martini Shot) is on Irish Radio now. I search Apple Podcasts for “irish radio rob long” and get:
Armchair Expert with Dax Sheppard…
The Joe Rogan Experience…
The Remnant with Jonah Goldberg (sounds vaguely related, but not entertaining)…
Literally! with Rob Lowe (close!)…
Yahoo Sports NFL…
GLoP (Comes in at #27 in a search containing “rob long”)…
Hmm. Maybe it’s only on real radio. Who knows?… Aww screw it! I might be able to find time to listen to Rob’s new radio comments, but I certainly don’t have time to waste searching for them!
A while ago I recall that Rob mentioned “Martini Shot” is currently at least “on hiatus” because while he could do them from home, the hosting station insists everything be done in their studios which were closed down due to Virus. If those studios have since re-opened, it would appear that Martini Shot is not a priority.
We’re going to be carrying it very soon.
