Please, Just Make it Stop! More Hits from the Idiocracy

See the source imageNow that Major League Baseball has taken the All Star Game away from Atlanta, the next target is the Masters. Keith Olbermann joined the chorus of voices demanding that the PGA remove the Masters from Augusta, GA.

A bag filled with golf clubs is smarter than Mr. Olbermann. There are individuals, like a Halon fire extinguisher, that suck the oxygen out of a room the minute they open their mouths.

There are people in this world that are perpetually aggrieved, filled with outrage, and joyless.

Their lives are so empty the only pleasure they have left is to interfere in the lives of others. God forbid that anyone else might find any joy in watching a golf tournament taking place on one of the most beautiful golf courses in the world.

Wisdom from Olbermann:

BOYCOTT THE MASTERS! Baseball moving the All-Star Game out of Atlanta in protest of Georgia Voter Repression opens a path to stopping the racists, with money.

Next? Think it’s a coincidence that a golf tournament in an ex-slave state is named “The Masters?”

There are two Charlottesville stories. The false one from the Democrats is that Trump equated the Alt Right marchers with progressives.

That’s a new one, for me.

If you don’t like that one, he’ll make up another one for you.

For me too, but I didn’t ask what he meant because I thought he might try to explain it.

    Please, no!

The Georgia legislation and the transcript of the Trump Charlottesville interview are both in the public domain. So is satellite temperature data about actual trends. So is the frequency, trend and context of police use of force.
All those untouched facts and texts don’t matter—only opinions, spin, memes.  And the worst part is that the more people stay in those tiny bubbles, the more they think they are well-informed and rational.

Apparently, there are people who believe that watching Professional Sports is an incurable addiction. The injection of political views into every aspect of life diminishes its appeal and effectively cuts your potential audience in half.

They are “non-persons” in my book, and I refuse to listen to them or to grant them personhood.

So, @garyrobbins, help me out, here.  ‘Cause I really don’t get it.  Do you presume that it is within your charter to “grant personhood” on someone?  Or to declare them “non-persons.”

I might disagree with someone.  I might fight someone (politically) with tooth and claw. But I’ve never even considered declaring my adversaries non-persons, or thought that it was within my purview to abjure in granting them “personhood.”

Dude, that rubs up a little too close to declaring Lebensunwertes Leben.

    C’mon, man.  “Grant personhood?” Really?

It does seem to put him even more firmly on the actually-liberal/lefty side, doesn’t it?  The left denies “personhood” all the time, including to unborn children.

I have four people who I will turn off the TV when they appear, Keith Olbermann, Al Sharpton, David Duke and Donald Trump.

Really, how often does David Duke appear on television?

It’s no wonder that Gary fell for the Charlottesville story.

There are two Charlottesville stories. The false one from the Democrats is that Trump equated the Alt Right marchers with progressives. The correct one is that Trump showed incredible insensitivity, and acted as a racialist. When I mention Charlottesville, I mean the second scenario, not the first one. However it appears that many of my fellow Ricochetti think that I am talking about the first scenario.

It’s been awhile since you hijacked a thread with an anti-Trump comment.  It’s almost nostalgia.

Maybe the people who run major sports leagues (college too, I suppose) ought to quit pussy-footing around with one boycott here and one there.  Just announce that there won’t be any tournaments in any state with a Republican governor or Republican-majority legislature.  Drop the pretense and just declare that your sports organization is an arm of the Democratic Party.

A few years ago, Keith Olbermann was a commentator on NBC Sunday Night Football during half-time.

I have four people who I will turn off the TV when they appear, Keith Olbermann, Al Sharpton, David Duke and Donald Trump. They are “non-persons” in my book, and I refuse to listen to them or to grant them personhood. If I am in someone else’s home, I will simply say that if they are unwilling to turn off the TV, I will leave the room as long as they are on the TV. Sometimes the TV would be turned off, sometimes I would leave the room. But if the TV remained on, I left.

Often on Sundays I would turn off the TV during Sunday Night Football halftime, and a couple of hours later would realize that I had missed the rest of the game. Thankfully, NBC finally took him off the TV.

My brother, many of my friends, and many people from my community served in Vietnam. Some did not come back. I feel the same way about  Richard Blumenthal. And it irks me that he sits on any committee that would evaluate the integrity and honor of a judicial candidate.

As I recall, Dick Blumenthal pulled Hillary out of the line of fire in Iraq, and they were only saved by a last-minute sortie flown by Tom Harkin that took out the battalion attacking them.  Biden would have been there but he was off a secret mission in Afganistan to pass out medals and kill Taliban Ninjas.  And John Kerry was 0ut urging Iran, Cuba, and K. Korea to take more action against US interests so some new forms of concession, surrender, and self-sabotage could be worked into a new treaty.  And AOC noted that while all of this was true, not one of these supposed heroes gave any thought to their impact on climate or transgender rights the whole time.

Good point.  Over in the WSJ comments on the recent editorial on this topic, it seems that some of the leftwing comments that Biden apologists are cutting and pasting into the discussion are complaints that the law gives the Republican legislature power to deal with county-level abuses.   As if the law is in effect only when there are Republican majorities, which of course it isn’t. It seems that the problem the left is fighting is as you describe: the existence of a Republican-majority legislature.

Yes. Ironically, without photo ID you cannot enter a federal building to tell the DOJ your civil rights have been infringed. Black people are presumably unable to fly Delta and get thru TSA checks because ID is required. Black people are unable to apply for government assistance or cash/deposit the checks if they receive it because ID is required.  You can’t pick up tickets at the will-call window at a Braves game without photo ID or buy liquor if you look to be under 40 in most businesses.

This is the dumbest policy myth ever.

Does the MSM know it’s a myth and are they lying or are they just that dumb? I honestly can’t tell.

They can’t possibly be this dumb!  They are obviously lying through their teeth.  We know over and over again that they don’t care much if they are caught lying.  For example, Harry Reid admitting that he lied about Mitt Romney’s unpaid taxes and showing not a bit of shame.  Al Gore, in a speech, admitted to lying about ethanol “just to get elected.”   He didn’t seem to be ashamed by it at all.

As far as I can tell. The Georgia law requires people to show up with an I.D. That’s it. Are the left-wing people on twitter saying that black people can’t get I.D.?

Survey after survey shows that Voter ID laws have the support of around 80% of the public, and it’s bipartisan support across all racial categories. This has been true for many, many years. The only people against it are elected Democrats and their media monkeys.

I already boycott the Masters. Rather, I boycott golf, and have since spending rainy summer afternoons at Grandpa’s house listening to Chris Schenkel and Byron Nelson whisper.

The only thing more boring than golf is Keith Olbermann.

As an elder care provider, I really got into having the Golf channel on as often as possible. It can be very soothing for people in the throes of Alzheimers. I also use it when I have a bout of insomnia.

I think it is a great sport for those who are good at it. Plenty of sunshine and camaraderie. I have terrible depth perception so my idea of playing a sport involves larger items  like softballs and basketballs.
