You Is Smart!

During a discussion with a friend I was lauding the praises of Ricochet (always hoping to get new members) and told her the members were an assorted collection of fun personalities and some of the smartest folks around. She asked why I held that ‘opinion’. I told her it’s not an opinion. That we literally have rocket scientists amongst the top professionals from medical, legal and academia. She replied, “I know a lot of dumb lawyers”. I tacitly had to agree.

So I came home and jumped on The Google to reinforce my point and found this at Alexa.com. Not that everyone who’s gone to graduate school is brilliant, but…

Everyone, please welcome the newest Ricochet member @LisaKoers.

@aumom … so there’s sportstalk here too? Be still my beating heart if I can talk politics AND the Cubbies! ?⚾️?

Oooh! A Cubs fan! One of the Elect.

Is it true that Hillary Clinton is a Cubs fan?

She was both a Cubs and a Yankee fan when she was running for Senator from NYC. Obama claimed to be a big White Sox fan, but knew little about the team.

He pronounce “Comiskey” as “Cominskey.” He was in the booth and the announcers asked him who his favorite player was. He couldn’t name one. Not one.

    Hahahaha!

if I have to say something nice I guess it would be at least he didn’t call it The Cell. But you think a Community Organizer would know how to properly pronounce Comiskey.

He also mixed up which one was called a field versus a park.

You made a good point, Lisa. Lots of people – well, hundreds, really – never post anything at all, and that’s cool. When I first joined, I did spend a while just reading and enjoying, then one day I had to comment, then one day there was that news item that I just HAD to post.

So I just hope you enjoy it here, whatever you do. :)

If some don’t know about that accident, they need to research it. He is lucky to just be alive he was so badly injured. And it did change his personality. I give him a pass and ignore what he says. He is still creative.

I remember that. He nearly died. The driver’s dog was in his lap or something. I’ve been a King fan since day 1, and while I wish I’d never found out about his political views, I still like his writing. In the 80s, he sent me one of my get well cards that had a big scary nurse on it. I had written “Wilkes” on her name tag as an homage to Annie Wilkes in Misery. King sent me that card in the mail and signed it “Beast wishes from your Number One Fiend” hahaha. He also sent me autographed copies of all his books including The Dark Tower. I just wish he and others of my favorite celebs would stop telling me their politics.

My lovely wife and I heard a little something about Stephen King on our Honeymoon. We honeymooned in Waterford, Maine at the Bear Mountain Inn. There the innkeeper told us about a nearby apple orchard that was losing money and some developers were looking to purchase to turn the land into condos. Stephen King heard about it, and bought the orchard under his sister’s name to keep them out. Amanda and I of course had to get apples from there. They were delicious.

That night after we ate the apples, Maine experienced a freak earthquake. To this day we blame the Stephen King Apples.

I never sent him a card or anything, figured he would receive hundreds of thousands and didn’t need anymore. So, you are so lucky!
