Quote of the Day: Treason
I’m taking this Ben Franklin quote from the musical 1776 that I watched on the 4th, as I do most years. I’m not certain whether he said it, but most of the lines in that movie are authentic, although frequently not in the place and time depicted, so I’m going to assume that Franklin actually said it. (If only there were some resource I could use to look up answers to these sorts of questions.)
“Treason… Treason is a charge invented by winners, as an excuse for hanging the losers.”
I’ve thought about this line in the last few days, because right now the losers are yelling treason, trying the hang the winners.
Funny old world, isn’t it?

The left never loses, it just has setbacks.
I just read an article in American Thinker about the Bavarian Separatist movement. (Yuh, they wanna leave Germany!)
Germany sez nein! their Constitution does not accommodate any state leaving.
To which the Bavarian leader replied:
“When you want to drain the swamp, you do not ask the frogs!”
….but here in the US,
the frogs,
and the progs,
are the only critters we do hear from.
The bull-Prog chorus is trying to distract us from that sucking sound as the fetid waters of the swamp drain away.
One of my favorite syllogisms:
1: Dissent is the highest form of Patriotism.
2: Treason is the highest form of Dissent.
3: Therefore, Treason is the highest form of Patriotism.
It certainly is.
And this is an entry in our Quote of the Day Series. If you would like to sign up and show us how it’s really done, our sign-up sheet is here.
“When you want to drain the swamp, you do not ask the frogs!”
I love that line.
The logic is impeccable.
Can’t say I really like your comment, Bryan. Too true for comfort.
This is an Independence Day tradition at my house as well. Throughout the day, I also stream fife and drum music at very high volumes.
The left is used to throwing a tantrum and the GOP buckling to that tantrum. That’s not happening this time. So, like all spoiled children, they double down on their tantrum until they get what they want. And now, they have gone full blown histrionic and are talking treason. They will not back down. It’s not in their nature.
You’re right about the tantrum. When was the last time any Republican stood up to the press?
Thanks for reading, Rick.
No, you ask the EPA.
