Details are still coming in, but news broke over Twitter of a truck ramming through a crowd in Nice, France. The area was holding a Bastille Day celebration, and there have been some reports of gunfire.

The latest from the BBC:

A lorry has struck a crowd after Bastille Day celebrations in the southern French city of Nice, killing at least 75 people, officials are quoted as saying by local media.

It happened on the famous Promenade des Anglais after a firework display. The driver was “neutralised”, and guns and grenades were found inside the lorry.

One image on Twitter showed about a dozen people lying on the street.

Officials said it was “an attack”, asking local residents to stay indoors.

Many people were injured, some critically, in the incident on Thursday evening.

Nice Mayor Christian Estrosi said that “a lorry driver appears to have killed dozens of people”.

Prosecutor Jean-Michel Pretre said the lorry drove two kilometres (1.2 miles) through a large crowd, the AFP news agency reports.

Latest reports are 75 dead, 100 injured. I’m waiting for Obama to make a bloodless statement.

    Basil Fawlty:Possible?

It was unconfirmed when posted two hours ago. I’ll update it the next go-round.

“Probable” would probably have been better.

    To all,

There is a video on sky news showing the truck slowing down as it gets close to a very large group of people. Then when he gets very close to the people he guns it and accelerates through them. There is little doubt.

    Regards,

    Jim

Frozen Chosen:ISIS and their adherents are nothing more than a godless murder cult. They are bloodthirsty savages who deserve no quarter. The US and our allies should do all we can to exterminate them.

This description does not extend to all of Islam, however. I have many Muslim friends who are as horrified by these atrocities as anyone else. They are peaceful people who just want to live their lives. They are not responsible for these murders any more than all Christians are responsible for pedophile priests. We need to make that distinction.

Your first paragraph was sufficient and clear, why do you feel a need to include this disclaimer/lecture?

We can’t fight this phenomenon by lecturing to each other or preemptively apologizing. If someone misunderstands clear communication, it’s their fault and their problem.

Hey. Islam is a religion of peace! Diversity is Strength! All we need is love!

Ha! I’m the first to say it.

A murder cult perhaps, but why do you say they are godless? They would certainly insist otherwise, and it seems useful to understand their motivation in order to defeat them.

Hillary calls into The Factor and steps in it IMO. She says we need an “intelligence surge” and European countries are reluctant to share information with us as one of the main problems. (!)

    Hmmm. Wonder why?

ISIS is a practitioner of Islam and they commit their murder in the name of Allah – they are not godless but they blaspheme God. I’ll agree with you that many muslims are horrified by this but Islam is the problem. Islam is Mohammed and Mohammed is Islam – and Mohammed was a bloodthirsty savage and their religious texts back this up. Until Islam comes to grips with this we must continue to blame Islam. It would be a miracle to hear a muslim denounce their texts and call for reform.

    To all,

This has happened before in Israel. They know what to do. Others will learn by experience.

I can simultaneously pray for the families of the victims and do what needs to be done to prevent this (CoC) from happening again, which includes making sure the maroons who blame guns instead of radical Islam are treated with all the derision they deserve.

Looking forward to Obama talking tomorrow about how our communities are flooded with trucks and how it’s easer to buy a Mack than a book. Hillary, of course, will blame The Independent Truck Driver Association for this attack.

The Europeans feel no need to reciprocate. They’ve already gotten all our intelligence off of Hillary’s server. What could we share that they don’t already know?

I have a Muslim acquaintance named Tarek Fatah who claims if Muslim leaders do not acknowledge the flaunting of radical Islam on the streets and in the workplaces of Europe’s cities, then Brexit is just the beginning.

He also believes U.S. and Europe refuse to stand up for their own values. When I told him ISIS was not Islamic, he explained Islamic roots of Islamic terrorism.

When you boil the Koran down to its literal meanings you get this act. The peaceful majorities just ignore the parts where the book says to kill enslave tax or convert the infidel.  The peaceful ignore those critical parts because most people are inherently good.   The book itself is a poison though and it’s followers need to defile the book’s instructions to never change it.  A contradiction that cannot be fixed.

This century sees the death of hundreds of millions of Muslims or the end of Western civilization.   Time will tell but when the winds blew, Obama stood with Islam.  Never forget that history book writers.

4 more years of letting this be the norm? Have at it but do own it.  To vote for Hillary is to consider this act the price of business.

    Hillary delenda est.

Misthiocracy:“Germany let in way more muslim refugees than France did, and they haven’t been the target of terrorist attacks. See? France just needs to be more like Germany!” – hypothetical left-wing pundit

If I am not mistake nearly every attack in Europe has been perpetrated by Nationals, not refugees. Turkey may be the one exception though considering their position geographically anyone with a good pair of boots and some determination can make it in.

    80 dead and 18 in ” absolute urgency “

The death toll is almost certain to grow higher. So much slaughter and with such modest implements, this will undoubtedly encourage others.
