Details are still coming in, but news broke over Twitter of a truck ramming through a crowd in Nice, France. The area was holding a Bastille Day celebration, and there have been some reports of gunfire.

The latest from the BBC:

A lorry has struck a crowd after Bastille Day celebrations in the southern French city of Nice, killing at least 75 people, officials are quoted as saying by local media.

It happened on the famous Promenade des Anglais after a firework display. The driver was “neutralised”, and guns and grenades were found inside the lorry.

One image on Twitter showed about a dozen people lying on the street.

Officials said it was “an attack”, asking local residents to stay indoors.

Many people were injured, some critically, in the incident on Thursday evening.

Nice Mayor Christian Estrosi said that “a lorry driver appears to have killed dozens of people”.

Prosecutor Jean-Michel Pretre said the lorry drove two kilometres (1.2 miles) through a large crowd, the AFP news agency reports.

Fighting off the urge to immediately talk politics about this. Thinking less of myself because there wasn’t the same urge to pray for the victims.

My God! Poor France. They can’t seem to go 6 months without such an attack.

Fox reports that over 30 dead and 100 injured according to local TV. The driver is dead. Monsterous.

    Valiuth: My God! Poor France

For nearly my entire life, France has all too often been on the wrong side of international terrorism, as long as it was directed against Americans, Israelis, or at most, French Jews.

Their chickens are coming home to roost. And it’s their chickens, because they wouldn’t let ours in.

Well, at least we can be confident that this has nothing to do with the latest wave of refugees to hit their shores.

Remonstrations of French policy can come later, for now we should probably stick to prayers for the victims and rage against the perpetrators.

It is now up to 60 dead.  This was just the work of one man seemingly. How many more are out there?

Pictures of the truck indicate this may not have been an accident.

Yes, the muslim refugees in Germany are much better behaved than those in France. They just rape the host’s womenfolk.

The truck was reported full of arms and grenades.  Could something far worse have been planned?

    Just awful.  Expected.

France is a sham income transfer agency posing as a government.  They lack will.

Prayers for the French killed, especially since they don’t pray, or believe for that matter.

This is the time for the President to point out once again that more gun control, especially in tight gun control France, is required.

Trucks and cars are far worse than commercial aircraft, able to inflict less  damage, but much easier to access and ubiquitous.

Any politician who persists in talking about the defense against Islamic attacks as a “war” on terror and who does not at the same time propose a way to either a)annihilate the enemy or b)make them surrender …which is the only way to win a war… is an ignoramus or a hypocrite. In other words, virtually every policitican who talks about the “war” on terror is an ignoramus or hypocrite, because virtually none of them have ever made such proposals. All but one… maybe…Trump, who at least broached the concept of threatening the families of terrorists which is literally the only thing that anyone has ever proposed that could achieve the goal of making terrorists quit.

ISIS and their adherents are nothing more than a godless murder cult.  They are bloodthirsty savages who deserve no quarter.  The US and our allies should do all we can to exterminate them.

This description does not extend to all of Islam, however.  I have many Muslim friends who are as horrified by these atrocities as anyone else. They are peaceful people who just want to live their lives.  They are not responsible for these murders any more than all Christians are responsible for pedophile priests.  We need to make that distinction.
