Join Ricochet; Appear as Guest on Fox News

Shawn Buell on Real Story Gretchen CarlsonMaybe you’ve heard Rob Long or Peter Robinson, our illustrious founders, say that “Ricochet is read in the corridors of power,” but thought it sounded like a sales pitch. I’ll believe it when I see it, you said.

Don’t believe us? Ask Shawn Buell, aka Majestyk, whose Main Feed post yesterday, “Actual Analysis Indicates We Aren’t Doomed,” so interested Fox News that they asked him to come on The Real Story with Gretchen Carlson this afternoon.

Would you like to be a guest on Fox News? Well, you have to become a member of Ricochet first. (We’ve got room for those who don’t care about being guests on TV shows, too.)

That really was very impressive, both the information you presented and the professional manner in which you presented it. It had to be terrifying, but you handled it with absolute aplomb. Congratulations.

I rewatch the clip four times. Each time with a little greater joy of being a Ricochetti

A tip of a cap to you Shawn and the first two rounds are on me.

The way you describe Fox’s looking at an excel chart makes me very concerned about thier level of any real analysis of numbers. You make it sound as if Harry Potter was interacting with muggles.

I don’t think they spend a great deal of time poring over RealClearPolitics.com and thinking about what the numbers themselves mean.  A lot of this is driven by personality, which is what works on TV.

I was privy to the discussions that the producers were having via email and Gretchen herself was asking good questions (I’m not going to share the precise contents as there is a confidentiality statement at the bottom) and they also included a WSJ article by Karl Rove saying something fairly similar to my thesis.

The bottom line however is that a picture says a thousand words.  I can’t find where anybody had actually just accumulated the vote totals and tried to derive trends of that sort.
