Best of the Member Feed 2015
It’s that time of year again! Which were your favorite Member Feed posts from 2015? Please enter your nominations in the comments.
And please don’t hesitate to nominate your own posts — especially any overlooked ones that you think deserve a second look.
In case you’re interested, here is a link to the 2014 nominations.
Here’s to continued community and conversation in 2016!

And a Happy New Year to you, Lizzy! You’re gonna ruin my bad reputation with comments like that. ;-)
’70s and ’80s country music is the best.
No nominations. I think I’ve benefitted from almost every post I’ve read, written, or commented on (how’s that for applying suction?).
Just thanks, Ricochetti, I’d rather be with you all than the best people in the world.*
* Obscure movie reference. Hint: Steve Martin.
If I missed any of these nominated stories, first new year’s resolution is to read them all – I don’t want to miss anything!
One of the things I’ve enjoyed so much about Ricochet in my first year here is how much great content is generated by the members.
Naturally, rather than doing the honorable thing and highlighting their work, I’ll pick a few of my own to plug!
Is Dylann Roof America Personified? – A bunch of lefty commentators pounced after the massacre in South Carolina, holding up the horrifying incident as proof of the worldview they hold so dear: Namely, that the United States is an evil, racist society. And also they hate their parents. I wrote this in an effort to poke holes in their absurd ideas.
The Social-Media Mob Bags Another Trophy – Except for the piece I wrote about Obama renaming Mt. McKinley, this got the most comments of anything I authored this year. RIP, Cecil the Lion.
The Age of Totalitolerance – Like so much of what I write, it was too long, but, unlike so much of what I write, I felt like the verbosity was warranted, here. Free speech rights, and what is happening on college campuses, are hugely important issues to me.
It’s been a great first year, and I feel honored to have had so much of my work promoted to the main feed. A Ricochet membership was the best investment I made in 2015. This is a truly excellent site.
You are encouraging me to be immodest. And I have so much to be modest about since most of what I write is trivial in the grand scheme of things.
But I will give you four pieces I was semi-proud to claim:
A Love Letter to Herself, a remembrance of Maureen O’Hara and the role of a lifetime
The continuation of my Sidebars of History series
Everything else isn’t worth the powder to blow it up with.
All of, but this in particular, entries by Garett Hobart. Even his Bio could be an entry.
Well I have one, and it’s yours:

My favorite PIT-worthy toast of all time! I won’t give it away, but I will give another hint. Steve Martin starred in the movie named for Darryl Hannah’s character, but he didn’t deliver the line. That was the, um, impolitic mayor.
Gary’s stories are the highlight for me. I hope he keeps up the excellent work!
Thanks, RA, and Boss Mongo. I’d missed that post. Loved it.
EJHill, I was thinking that you were a Contributor. No? Then this body of work should also be on the short list for tops on the Member Feed, 2015.
I probably wrote some great stuff but I haven’t had the chance to read them yet.
Absotively posolutely.
Since everyone else is engaging in self-promotion:
Nope. No “C” for me.
Just a member such as thee.
My New Year’s Resolution is to make Spengler’s Best of the Member Feed 2016 list.
There is another candidate for a multi-post series in 2015. Concretevol entertained us and informed us regarding his work in the cleanup after Hurricane Katrina, on the tenth anniversary of the storm. He posted some interesting and amazing photos.
I like this post of mine still, which I think touched on some important aspects of Ricochet as a “community,” but being a mindless fan-girl, I really loved any post in which Mark Steyn was mentioned.
This was my most popular post of the year (ever, really).
The Ricochet Hall of Fame & Museum
p.s. Thanks!
Oh, but I’m also reminded of the birth announcement from Mike H. That one put an extra big smile on my face.
