The Democrats Are a Threat to Our Constitution

Biden set up a committee to consider court-packing. A new more sinister form of it emerged in the last week with the threat to murder Justice Kavanaugh.

Other Supreme Court justices have been threatened and the Biden administration has said nothing about it. The Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer threatened Kavanaugh and his colleagues said nothing. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has blocked a bill to provide security for Supreme Court justices.

We face an existential crisis. The assassination of a Justice would be far worse than the caning of Senator Sumner by Representative Brooks. But our leaders are mute. An insurrection is brewing but they don’t care because they can’t blame it on Trump.

His situation is essentially the same.  In his case there was talk of armed rebellion against the US Gov’t, and it being just 12 years since the last time that happened, it was a serious threat.  The Compromise of 1877 was tawdry, but it averted a return to war.

I appreciate your point.  But Trump had his hands on the levers of power as the President.  Samuel Tilden had only the resources of the Governor of a state.

I suggest that you review the written remarks of Judge Michael Luttig.   They are in Comment #1 of this post:  https://ricochet.com/1272862/horatius-at-the-bridge-vice-president-mike-pence/.  The Constitution was not violated, despite Trump’s many efforts.

Well, if you’re talking about what the Senate did, I tend to agree.

But it was almost certainly violated earlier.  See here, but search for “Interlude: Was Violation of State Law a Constitutional Issue?”

Your link does not work. The Constitution says that the state legislatures (and the U.S. House and Senate) set the rules for voting for president. The state Governor or Secretary of State cannot change the rules.

Interesting question is what is the remedy when the Constitution isn’t followed? It wasn’t in PA, and as far as I can tell it was only John Roberts’ cowardice that allowed this violation. There were some interesting comments made by a former law professor regarding this issue. I didn’t like what he said, am not qualified to determine if he was on solid Constitutional grounds, but appreciated the clarity of his responses.

If the stupid party does gain political power again in this election, will they be able to keep those who think like the NT’s we have seen from having influence going forward? This is important.

It’s vitally important that the NTs be kept as far from the levers of power as possible. I would treat them like Buckley treated the Birchers. (The Birchers were right about commie infiltration, by the way.)

The GOPe is not known as the stupid party without reason. My bet is that if we elect DeSantis or Trump, the usual suspects will be doing their usual backstabbing. The first step should be to reduce The Turtle to the status of PLO ( Permanent Latrine Orderly, from No Time For Sergeants  )

Yes, we need to do more than just making sure to keep currently known NT’s from policy positions but be able to screen newcomers so that new NT’s are not placed in policy positions. And recognize the term NT is not limited to those concerned about Donald Trump, there is actually a way of thinking about government there and it is not desirable.

I remember when Shrub said, “When people are hurting, government has to move.” Notice that he didn’t say “local governments”, “state governments”, communities, churches, extended families. No; he is a Government First guy. There has to be a term for idiots who think the answer to everything is for the Feds to get involved.

Out here on the left coast it seems that they have daddy issues, especially but not exclusively the females. They want someone to take care of them.
