Small, Inspiring Victories

So many of us are feeling the fatigue of fighting for our country every day. The destructive and mindless decisions are endless. I became acutely aware of how worn out I am by reading David Foster’s latest post. I realized that my condition is so difficult to endure because it is wearing on me mentally, emotionally and physically: I find myself continually analyzing the predicaments our country is engaged in; the distress of that reality intensifies with each ugly news story; and the result of both the emotional and mental upset is a weariness that I work hard to shake. Even with exercise, proper diet and prayer, the state of our country is taking its toll on me.

But I had an idea that I think can help all of us: frequently identifying small victories. I use the word frequently because I do believe that we are seeing protests, rebellions and revelations that tell us that although we are in a serious struggle, little by little the country is at least waking up and noticing the many ways that the Leftist elite has compromised our cherished and honorable way of life. And ordinary citizens aren’t happy.

For those of us who have been fighting this war for a while, though, we must do something to invigorate our spirits. And I think we have multiple opportunities to do so.

One area to look for victories is at the justice level. We have seen the Supreme Court reverse laws of the Biden administration that relate to COVID-19, border rulings and abortion. I suggest that every time we see these rulings, not only with SCOTUS but with any other court, we let everyone here know what is happening. We might even want to include “Small Victories” in our titles.

Local jurisdictions have also risen up in protest. We see this within the local schools and school boards. Victories come wrapped in different packages; I consider protests against transgender education a success, even before regulations or laws are changed. Changing requirements that support Critical Race Theory is another area. I’m waiting to see some of the unions being challenged by parents and legislators who have had enough of their demands.

A third area for victories is our representatives and senators. When any of them speak out about the depravities and injustices, let’s celebrate. Rand Paul, Ted Cruz and Tom Cotton and others are leading the way. We can tell everyone that these people are our advocates who are restoring our country.

There are other areas where we can honor and laud those who are speaking out and making changes. Feel free to use this post to offer your own recommendations!

I will start the ball rolling to highlight a recent action taken by Ron DeSantis. Dr. Raul Pino, director of the Orange County health department, sent out a memo to his staff that included this statement:

Pino wrote that out of 568 staffers, only 77 had received booster shots, 219 had gotten two vaccines doses and 34 only had a single dose, according to the television station.

‘I am sorry but in the absence of reasonable and real reasons it is irresponsible not to be vaccinated,’ Pino wrote. ‘We have been at this for two years, we were the first to give vaccines to the masses, we have done more than 300,000 and we are not even at 50% pathetic.’

The state health department is conducting an investigation to see if any laws were broken by Pino’s making this statement. It isn’t clear whether Pino “required” vaccinations, or if he was only strongly recommending them (which could have the same effect).

Last fall Gov. DeSantis signed a law that prohibited state government agencies from instituting health mandates. It’s important to point out that Florida is different from some states because the state is authorized to respond to infectious disease.

Those people who support Pino state that his free speech rights are being violated. Meantime, if the health department determines that his statement is equal to a requirement, Pino would be impinging on the rights of his employees.

At the very least, I am glad to see a passionate discussion taking place on these issues, and that Gov. DeSantis continues to act on behalf of the people.

I call this a “small victory.”

The authors of the Great Barrington Declaration just sent out one of their periodic emails to remind us that they have received 850,000 signatures to their cause. They are only three doctors—Jay Bhattacharya, Sunetra Gupta and Martin Kulldorff—who have protested against the powers-that-be about their insidious policies and their effects. I just learned that they now have a site, collateralglobal.org, to fund a process for disseminating information about the collateral damage of governments. This is another small victory.

These are only a tiny fraction of the actions that have been taken to take our country back.

So, inspire and energize us with the small victories that have moved you!

I just put down the latest novel that I am reading, set during the Civil War.  The sentiments you express are the same as both the soldiers and the citizenry express. I imagine it is a universal truth that once someone comes to the realization that the resolution of a conflict will not be swift, then they despair of it ever ending.  I agree wholeheartedly that sharing the small victories help buck us up;  they help us understand that we are not alone.  The left looks bigger than it is because of its pervasiveness in controlling communications, but it is not a majority.  They want to appear that way, which is why they keep claiming a mandate but the numbers tell us they are lying.  They do not have a mandate and when you see how people actually are behaving, you start to realize that one of the things you have to resist is simply the propaganda that is shoved in our faces every day, not only by the MSM but by our own media outlets in the name of sensationalism.

So I know that after every small victory that is shared, someone here will say “it is not enough” but if it is enough to keep us engaged in the fight, then it is enough.

I love the sentiment. Let me suggest a couple of refinements:

the distress of that reality intensifies with each ugly news story

So don’t read and watch the news. At the very least, don’t read or watch it expecting it to be – or wishing it was – something to do with truth.

Rand Paul, Ted Cruz and Tom Cotton and others are leading the way.

These people are politicians. At best they follow. Put not your trust in those who would be princes.

Excellent comment, GC! Every point a gem. I, too, just finished a book about Grant and the Civil War. It was a dark time, but Lincoln, and then Grant, were determined to re-unite the country. And the Southern Democrats fought against reunification. It was a bad, evil fight. But I believe we have right on our side: most people want us to come through this polarization more united, with a country that has renewed its determination to be a great nation. The fight will be hard, so we must count on each other to lift ourselves up. Thanks.

Who are they following? Rand Paul is not following anyone in his fight against Fauci. Ted Cruz makes the same kind of challenges, including those against the border disaster. And Tom Cotton spoke out early on about the nature of the Wuhan virus. Other Republicans probably hate them because they go against the elite. I think they set a great example, if not for us, certainly for other legislators. And to other Republicans: do something!

It seems that England and Europe are beginning to back off the mandates. It’s time for the US to follow.

This is a story about how two women–Leigh Dundas, an attorney and organizer of Nationwide Walkout, and Vera Sharav, a Holocaust survivor–stopped vaccine passports in Orange County.  Dundas discovered that “the county had made a secret contract with a vaccine PR firm before the firm was hired publicly, which allegedly included $500,000 in vaccine outreach” and calculated that Orange County was chosen because if passports could be mandated there they could be mandated anywhere.  It took persistence and intelligence to pull this off and it’s worth knowing how they did it–and very encouraging.

I hate to be a downer, but the battle between good and evil is eternal for mankind. Every victory of ours is just a speed bump for them. We are playing whack a mole. There is no front line but multiple entry points for us to defend, just as in the game. The mole never stays whacked down, but re-attacks over and over. As the great Michael Walsh says, see red underline in first picture. The second picture is a continuation of his comments.  From The Devil’s Pleasure Palace by Michael Walsh. No book captures the left as this one does.

I’ve read Walsh’s book, too, and it’s excellent. So does that mean we just give up?

@susanquinn No. We need the wisdom to understand the enemy and the fortitude to fight back until his dogma is destroyed. Mockery works to diminish their ideas. Walsh has another book on reclaiming the culture, The Fiery Angel. I haven’t done screenshots of it,yet, but can, if you wish.

Whereas Mark Levin’s book deals with the left and political ideology, Michael Walsh’s books approach it from the culture side. Both approaches overlap a lot.  After all, Frankfurt School critical theory seeks strength through a culture war while Marx dwelt on an economic war.

We seem to have a religion problem. Our national contract, the Constitution, vouchsafes religious pluralism. But some religions or cults do not respect religious pluralism. They are out of step with our Constitution, and yet the do not get called out for it. This presents real challenge. When you fight fire with fire you risk burning down the place where the conflict occurs.

Some of this comes out of the misrepresentation: the Constitution says there will be no state religion, but people prefer to understand that it’s really saying there will simply be no religion, anywhere. (They say it applies to public schools, for example, but they are lying.) Or another way to put it: ours will be the only religion (which is not actually a religion) allowed.

People also confuse state religion as referring to the individual states and not the federal government.

I just want you all to know that I’m collecting “small, inspiring victories” this week and think I’ll do a post of them on Friday! I hope you’re collecting some, too, since I’m probably going to only list one for each day or 5-6 total in the post. So I already have my two for Sunday and Monday. Maybe I’ll make it a weekly feature!
