Dan sits down with Billy Beane, who became famous outside the world of sports when Brad Pitt portrayed him in the film adaptation of Michael Lewis’s bestselling book, Moneyball.
Since March, Billy has been thinking a lot about how the Coronavirus will change sports. Why does this matter? Well, global sports is estimated to be a half-a-trillion dollar industry and growing. That’s until Covid 19 made its debut, earlier this year.
What has the sports industry learned from this unprecedented time? How will sports be transformed?

A little surprised that politics wasn’t brought up as a reason sports didn’t take off this year. Even to scoff at it. The NBA’s full throated support of China had to cause some people to leave. I stopped watching sports years ago so that’s not me.
It was really interesting, but like Bishop Wash I was surprised that there wasn’t one question about the political atmosphere surrounding today’s sports. Perhaps Mr. Beane suggested that the topic was off-limits?
Indeed. I am a 30 year plus fan of the Astros but when they pulled that stupid stunt of laying jerseys made in China at home plate and walking off right after the Jacob Blake shooting, it made me angry. Jacob Blake is portrayed as some kind of great guy but great guys don’t have restraining orders against them.
It made me fed up with all the virtue signaling and stupidity in sports.
I will probably watch again in 2021, but if I’m treated to these kinds of stunts again, I will switch off … permanently.
