Cruz Suspends Presidential Campaign

From Politico:

Ted Cruz is quitting the presidential race, according to campaign manager Jeff Roe, ending one of the best-organized campaigns of 2016 after a series of stinging defeats left Donald Trump as the only candidate capable of clinching the nomination outright.

Cruz had appeared likely to go all the way to the Republican convention, but a string of massive losses in the Northeast, and his subsequent defeat in Indiana, appear to have convinced him there’s no way forward.

John Kasich, however, pledged on Tuesday night to stay in the race until a candidate reaches 1,237 bound delegates.

Too honorable for this damn party.

He needed more experience. He’ll be back. 8 years. Be ready.

I hope Trump announces he would pick Ted for SCOTUS.

OK, my guy lost, and quit the race.

So apparently it’s Trump v. Clinton.

Think about that before the whining starts. That’s the choice. Unless you are absolutely indifferent as to who wins, you need to pick one or the other.

I have nothing more to say that is CoC compliant.  Except that I’m putting all my support behind SMOD 2016.

Actually, I found one thing to say that’s mostly CoC-compliant (mild cussing at the link).

What say we suspend the CoC for an evening?

    The situation calls for profanity.

Trump vs. Clinton.  The only good thing about it is that one of them has to lose.

Either way we conservatives are screwed. So, yea, I am indifferent as to whether statist-narcissist or statist-narcisisst wins. If Cruz goes as VP — then I’ll have a second Ben Carson moment.

Well, at least all the people here who think Cruz has a creepy smile can be satisfied.

I don’t know about you, but I’m happy our flagbearer is someone who can’t be cowed by the media and is unafraid about being politically incorrect!

I was on the record here as saying that I really liked Cruz.  I think he and his temperament is better suited for congress or the SCOTUS.  Presidents come and go but Senate seats are for life.  He’d probably have a larger and longer impact outside of the presidency.

That said,  I for one, am glad that the Republicans didn’t send up the Zodiac Killer as their presidential nominee!

Sorry it was my last chance to make that joke.  I’ll just uh… duck out now.

I am glad that Cruz made the announcement. He would have lost credibility if he had continued after this loss. He was working a very specific strategy that could only work with a victory in Indiana. He didn’t get it, and he manned up and acknowledged it.

I am sad he did not win. But he left the race as the biggest adult in the room.

Wiley:Conservatism is now dead in the Republican Party.

Sadly, I think it really already was – our Republican party has become a party of big government.  I think the Trumpublicans believe he will bring it back, or at least make the real republicans want to come back to their ideological roots.   But it won’t work out that way.

    Most sad.

I didn’t agree with everything he did or how he voted sometimes. I am proud to know Ted Cruz and proud to be a fellow Texan.

I would ask God to Bless America, but when we turn our back on men like Ted Cruz, Rick Perry, Scott Walker, even Jeb Bush, and others and then give the so called conservative stage to Trump and Kasich we deserve the pain that is coming our way.

    Steel yourselves.
