Breaking: CNN Calls Race for Trump & Sanders
With just a few percent in, too:
Published in PoliticsRepublican Donald Trump and Democrat Bernie Sanders have cruised to victories in the New Hampshire primary, CNN projects, in a pair of results that will shake up the presidential race and confirm the strength of anti-establishment candidates. The billionaire reality star’s victory restores the mantle of a winner to his campaign after he trailed in second last week in Iowa and validates him as a powerful new force in American politics.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gTh2DwlR-N0Sanders, meanwhile, delivered a painful blow to Democratic national front-runner Hillary Clinton after she edged out the slimmest of victories in Iowa. His win ensures that the fight for the Democratic nomination will only intensify heading into Nevada, South Carolina and the Super Tuesday contest and may exacerbate signs of internal discontent about the structure of Clinton’s campaign that are already emerging.
Expected but disheartening.
Okay folks, these voters cannot be ignored. Let’s see how the messaging changes….
Dumb and Dumber 3: Making America Dumb Again
Starring Donald Trump as Lloyd, and Bernie Sanders as Harry.
The appeal is clear.
Trump is the bully who is on your side. Even if he bad mouths you to his cool friends later.
Bernie is Santa Claus all year around except you don’t have to worry about being naughty or nice. All that is left for Bernie is to promise penis size redistribution (gonna lose the black vote) and get nerds **** by girls way out of their league.
I don’t want to ignore these voters. I want to ignore Trump.
From Teddy Roosevelt Mallach’s op-ed:
Trump may in truth be closer to Machiavelli (what works) than to Will’s idol (Hegel) but he would defend the Founding, the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Federalist Papers. Trump is a real conservative — in the arena. He is striking a cord with the public without hiring a speechwriter either (sorry George.)
What the famous political philosopher Leo Strauss suggested and George Will may need to relearn is that natural right affords support to the regime that arose from modernity. That regime is called liberal democracy, with a small L. Will may loathe the so-called “west coast” Straussians who take this position but it is altogether plausible. They support Trump.
It appears that the Establishment Republicans will apparently go to any distance to stop Trump. Why? Because he is outside their ranks in much the same way that Buckley was outside the norm when he ran for mayor of New York. Bill too could be acidic, tempestuous and cutting in his own unique, yes, urbane way. Get used to Trump. This is a new era.

That’s it.
My name’s not Nero, but I’m breaking out my fiddle.
That is putting it lightly.
Kasich beats Cruz and Rubio? Kasich?
I’m not sure what anyone expected from an electorate that voted in Barack Obama not once but twice. Trump is the Republican version of Obama.
I get the protest, but I don’t get believing that Trump is a protest against big government.
I keep thinking of this book that I read over a decade ago, called Attention Deficit Democracy. When reality tv is the best path to the GOP nomination, we are finished as a country.
I don’t really buy that they have been ignored. I totally buy that their concerns have been highlighted enough, but that’s a different matter.
Not time to panic folks. Trump came in first. At this point Kasich and Cruz are second and third. Combined they have a greater percentage of the vote than Trump. And yeah, Kasich is second. New Hampshire is where Kasich put all his effort.
New Hampshire favors Trump in a way the next set of states will not. South Carolina is next. Let’s see what happens there.

What does the down ticket look like? Are the Governors still going to be with us?
I understand. I still hold out hope that Trump will not be the nominee, but that hope gets weaker with each passing day, and I don’t think I will be able to leave the country quick enough.
It might actually be time to buy gold. The price will skyrocket if Trump wins and he wants to buy enough gold to plate the entire white house.
Kasich is second! Oh boo. I expected Cruz in third. But forth is not a good spot for Rubio. I guess Christie and Jeb! managed to take down my Cuban hero. Can he recover? Can Kasich do well anywhere else?
How can people go for the begging democrats for deals guy? Will Jeb! and Christie at least bow out?
Is Trump wining by a lot?
These are the voters we can’t ignore…
Remember NH has a large “Huntsman” vote that Kasich sowed up a while ago.
Dear Texas, Can We Please Tear Up The Treaty Now?
And this is supposed to help?
Not but it explains why Kasich did so well, Trump I can’t explain. I didn’t know NH had such a large ex-union strong-man protectionist contingent. I always thought they trended more libertarian. Its the home of the Free State Project after all.
Trump is this season’s Pat Buchanan. Buchanan always punched above his weight in NH.

So, does Jeb! finally quit?
Or is he taking his scorched earth approach all the way to the convention?
Why would he quit? It looks like he’s beating Rubio. As far as I can tell that’s more important to him than the future of our country.
Who me? Bitter?
Let us just say we must live in different realities. Bush started the campaign overtly ignoring them as a strategy and the GOPe has not wavered. On Ricochet, they have been insulted at best, called sub human at worst. We have had two record turnouts so far and the angry rabble seem to have woken up.
Who knew New Hampshire turned into Europe. A big gov’t nationalist in Trump and a socialist in Bernie. This may as well be the National Front vs the Socialist Party of France.
Guys like Kasich are Trump’s best friend. Kasich is a loser who has absolutely no chance of doing anything going forward. But if he distracts people and steals delegates from the likes of Cruz and Rubio, all the better for Trump.
Going forward not sure if this is a huge hit for Marco or not. He probably needs to finish 2nd, maybe 3rd, in SC and win or come very close in Nevada. Otherwise he may not have it… just too many people with absolutely no shot(Kasich, Jeb, Christie, Carly) stealing votes away from Marco and Cruz.
It’s very close to being a Trump vs Cruz battle unless Marco stages a big comeback.
So basically it turns out I really, really wanted Marco Rubio to take this one. And wanted the governors to flop.
Silver linings: Christie’s toast, Kasich is precisely the wrong governor to do well in SC, Cruz is beating Bush, at least. But I really, really don’t like seeing Bush beating Rubio by running the kind of campaign he did.
The bad news is that the race stays crowded and the not-Trump vote stays split among non-viable candidates. Scott Walker was right: a crowded field benefits Trump.
Recall that even though Trump finished second in Iowa he received more votes there than anyone in history except Ted Cruz.
Respectfully to Tom and others. TKC1101, me, and others have been saying for months: This isn’t about Trump, it is about his supporters and the phenomena.
I don’t know if Trump wins SC. I think Cruz wins there going away and still expect record turnout.
I want to ignore the voters. If people are dumb enough to vote for Trump and Sanders, it’s time to bring back restrictions on voting.
Your IQ has got to be this high to vote.
And if we’ve learned anything from the past 3 or 4 or 5 election cycles is that, really, most people are too dumb to vote.
I have a question for Mr Trump:
In the unlikely event that Mexico drops out of your deal to fund building the wall, will you proceed with the massive project with another source of funding? If so, from where are the funds to be obtained?
So Bernie Sanders won the Democrat primary, and John Kasich took second.
