Report Issues/ 2.0 Feedback

chat As suggested by She and anonymous, let’s use this thread to report your bugs, ideas, and feedback on 2.0. We’re reading it and our grateful for your suggestions and your patience.

3/23/ Update: We are aware that several new problems have cropped over the weekend, and existing problems with the podcast feeds, formatting, search, messaging, and alerts have not been addressed or have broken again. We also are aware that many of you have not seen your old posts appear on the new site yet. We are looking into all of this and will have a status update on these issues posted by Monday PM PT.

We will get all of this fixed. That’s a promise.

What about the Obama level? How much does Ricochet pay me for that?

All I can say is that 504 must be a very naughty gateway to receive so many timeouts.

Also, of all the sites to be double listed, The “American” “Conservative” comes up twice.

    Albert Arthur:
We’re harsh because we tried to help out the “beta” site so that all these “kinks” would be taken care of. But most of our suggestions were seemingly ignored since most of the things we pointed out as problem are still present. And by “we,” I mostly mean Don Tillman. All I did was tell them I hated nested comments.

    This.

site also seems to crash my ipad safari browser a lot.

Is it just me or does the scrolling feel sluggish on an iPad?  When I flick up or down there’s a noticible lag time before the page starts to scroll, and then it doesn’t move very far.  It’s like a workout for my fingers to get all the way down each page…

For years now I’ve been reading R 1.0 on my iPad and then switching to my computer when I wanted to reply.  A bit of a kludge but it (mostly) worked.

Now even reading R 2.0 is painful.  From bad to worse…

We’re still optimizing the site for the iPad. You will see a noticeable improvement in performance there in the next few days. Your patience will be rewarded.

We think we’ve tackled most of the 540 errors and fixed posting to the Member Feed.

    Onward.

The Platinum Level is an artifact from an earlier draft of the tiers and will be removed. The Reagan Level is the top level at the moment.

Can’t keep from whining. My one decent, substantive post is nowhere to be found. Rico 2.0, will you give me back that one post? I don’t mind if you ditch the fluff and plugs.

Two comments… First, the who am I following/who is following me info doesn’t seem to have migrated. Second, what’s the new character limit in the bio section? A lot of bios seem to be cut-off mid word. And yes, you infer correctly, I’m reading everyone’s profiles. NSA ain’t got nothing on me.

I’m currently paying once a year. But in my account, it said I’m not a paid member. Is that a glitch, or do I need to do something?

I’ve been with Ricochet from the very beginning. I haven’t found anything about 2.0 that is an improvement. And pricing with 99’s and 95’s is just downright insulting. What, we’re supposed to be excited that it’s $399.95, a whole five cents less than the round $400? Not to mention, more than 10 times what we’ve been paying. Really, you think we’re that stupid and easily led? Even the logo is ugly. It used to be classy and elegant. Now it’s just a block san serif cartoon version of its mature self.  The podcast archives are a good bit short of the advertised “all.” So far, VERY disappointing. And I agree with Albert Arthur about nested comments.  Annoying. And confusing.

Testing replies and quoting. Ok on old content still transferring. Will quit whining. For now.

Now iTunes is giving me a warning about the podcasts:

iTunes can’t verify the identity of the server “ricochet.com”.

The certificate for this server is invalid. You might be connecting to a server that is pretending to be “ricochet.com”, which could put your confidential information at risk. Would you like to connect to the server anyway?

    Attempting to connect to:
    http://ricochet.com/
    (a secure TLS connection) reports:

ricochet.com uses an invalid security certificate.
The certificate is only valid for the following names: *.wpengine.com , wpengine.com
    (Error code: ssl_error_bad_cert_domain)

This means that even if a user manually enters an https: URL in order to specify credit card information they will receive a scary security warning and be required to accept a generic certificate belonging to wpengine, not Ricochet.

     John,

You are doing a great job going through the code. I am doing my part by making a post to give them excuses and maybe plausible denial-ability.

There are two boxes called “Ricochet Recommends”.

One is the dated idea of a blog roll, which I’m sure is only included because it was in the WordPress template used by the ‘developer’ of R2.0. This takes up a lot of space.

The other is the Amazon.com widget, which actually features Ricochet-related content and might earn a penny or two for the site.

Why not get rid of the no-value-added blog roll?
