As suggested by She and anonymous, let’s use this thread to report your bugs, ideas, and feedback on 2.0. We’re reading it and our grateful for your suggestions and your patience.
3/23/ Update: We are aware that several new problems have cropped over the weekend, and existing problems with the podcast feeds, formatting, search, messaging, and alerts have not been addressed or have broken again. We also are aware that many of you have not seen your old posts appear on the new site yet. We are looking into all of this and will have a status update on these issues posted by Monday PM PT.
We will get all of this fixed. That’s a promise.

Mr Yeti, I have a draft post on my own blog (WordPress! http://www.rushbabe49.com) that has lots of links to Ricochet main feed posts. Will those links still work? Thanks!
It’s not my cup of tea, but I’ll get used to it. If this “sleek new look” increases the odds of the 18-35 (or whatever) demo reading something because the site looks “modern” it’s worth it. We need that cohort to wise up.

I’m having trouble replying to a post and the typing is very slow, like learning a word processer all over again at a 3 year old level.
Maybe a little SSL would be in order for the login and profile functions

Woo-hoo! After more than 20 attempts–I counted–I’ve finally made it past the 504 Gateway error message to Ricochet 2.0! And what happier way to inaugurate my own experience of this site than to find Pseud here, reply to his post, and–this floored me–use the new “Add media” feature to include a picture of a bird’s nest.
OK- so I already have a question about the new membership levels. If Monthly payment were an option for the Gold level, I would do it in a heartbeat. But shelling out $99.95 in one go is not feasible for me. Is there any chance monthly billing at that level will be allowed?

Not thrilled by how it looks. When I look at the screen on the main ‘Main’ page and the main ‘Member’ page, all I can see are the blue MORE bars that are the most emphatic part of the page. Much more emphatic than the post title or the author.
I have to make an effort to drag my eyes away and follow, down one column, and then up and over and down the next. Or try reading across so I don’t have to scroll up and down. But that doesn’t flow naturally either, because the posts don’t line up, so my eyes are jumping around again. That MORE bar is really annoying. And it wastes a huge amount of screen space.
Look at the Powerline page. Same basic format, but it doesn’t make my eyes hurt to look at it. And a nice, tasteful little ‘READ MORE’ after each post on same line as “COMMENTS” info. What’s wrong with that?
Think it’s going to be much slower to navigate and browse. Perhaps that is the intended effect. Not sure I have that much time.
Also, what’s with the font in the post title? It looks bad on my screen. Is that just me?
I dig the font. Layout is nice. Yeah I had that Gateway timeout for a minute. By the time I poured another glass of wine Mr. Gateway decided I wasn’t so suspicious afterall and let me in. There are some bells and whistles I will never use or even click on… but I have been ordering the exact same thing at Dairy Queen for decades: a medium vanilla cone…

The “504” time-out error that everyone comments on makes me laugh.
In Edu-speak, a ‘504’ is an accommodation for a specific student to support them. And a time-out is for disobendient children. All of us have 504’s! and we get a time-out from R2 for each complaint made about nested or flat comments. :)
Well, took 3+ hours to get past the 504 Gateway errors, but It actually thinks I am here now, so hope I can check it out before something else glitches, Oh well guess its worth it.
iPad Podcasts app no longer presents any art for a Ricochet podcast, just a Power Press logo. Also one can no longer pull down old episodes.

I assume you hired the Obamacare website people to set up version 2.0 for you. Why did you bother changing something that generally seemed to work fine ?
I’ll give it a few days, but it doesn’t seem to work at the moment and looks horrible.

Interesting. So far this is far less functional than the beta, insufficient integration testing.
I’m curious to see how this plays out.

OK, so the Gold membership is $100/year and the Platinum membership is $500/year, in round numbers. What do you get for the extra money?
Wow, some of you people are harsh! The thing’s been online for what, a few hours? I’m sure the kinks will get smoothed out over time.
Meanwhile, I like the new look, but I don’t really understand the layout of the posts, particularly on the member feed. I only have to go down four or five posts to get to stuff that’s days old. Maybe I have to change some setting to get the most recent stuff first?
