Grifters Got to Grift, but the Lincoln Project Makes Me Sick

Everyone here knows who the Lincoln grifters are. Heck, I’m 5,000 miles away in Ireland and I know who they are. As a secondary teacher and a Catholic, I’ve been trained and learned by experience how to catch lying pupils (they cannot help it) and to observe people who engage in systematic coverup and lies (sadly, the hierarchy of my church). Should I ever pack in teaching, I should look to the Irish cops for another vocation.

For now, I’ll stick with this: Nobody with a brain believes they knew nothing about predatory sleazeball John Weaver. The less said about him the better in this brief rant. Like rats from a stinking sorry sinking ship we now are meant to believe his buddies or acquaintances knew nothing about his creepy ways. A host of experienced at losing GOP hacks Rick Wilson, George Conway, Steve Schmidt, and a whole gallery of advisors at the Lincoln Project knew nothing absolutely nothing about it.

Right…

Ryan Girdusky (who broke this story and fair play to him), Glenn Greenwald, Laura Ingraham, and Mike Cernovich are all lying when they say otherwise. As are New York Magazine and The Associated Press and the New York Times when they write they knew all about him. That it was an open secret. That people gossiped about it. That people in Lincoln Project cannot talk about it due to NDAs on it. That nothing was allowed to come out about him as — shock, horror — the grift had to continue for them. A grift that cost white liberals $50 million plus.

Right…

They obviously think you are as easy a mark as some of their donors if you believe any of that. But the reason I really got enraged at these grifters tonight to write about them was this. In a thread on his Twitter feed tonight (which am not linking to) Steve Schmidt talks and lies about his relationship with Weaver. He disowns any real knowledge of the man. He also makes excuses for his appalling conduct over the last year. But what really grates me, was when he brought an entire story of him being abused as a teenage boy by a male medic (there it is again), how it destroyed his Catholic faith, and why he loathes what John Weaver did to other men.

I’m sorry, that enraged me. I have no idea whether his abuse story is true. But if it is (I’ll let you decide on it) and it is true, it feels that Schmidt is using this information not to express horror with what occurred but as a simple means to offer deflection from his relationship with Weaver. He was a victim of abuse, so he’d never stand by and watch it happen to another person.

Right…

I’ll leave the final paragraph to Ryan Girdusky who deserves an award for his reporting. His tweet on Schmidt’s statement is copied below:

The whole Never Trump movement attracted the sleaziest, most diseased people at every level. What that tells us is obvious.

I half-expect John Weaver to announce that he had no idea what John Weaver was up to.

I hope this ends up being the finish of Rick Wilson’s career.  He has probably contributed a lot to the decline of the Republican Party, and their being happy losers.

Hey, Paddy, what do you think of Church Militant?  They do excellent news reporting on the Church, and on what all is going on here in the US generally.

Whilst I appreciate the correction of bad spelling by moderators. I don’t like the fact they deleted one liner from my post.

(A gay man preying on young adult males,  where have I heard that before too)

I was going to do a post about the modern shibboleth about saying anything bad about gay pervs, not all gay people. It pops up time and time again in sex scandals of the lavender type. Now I certainly will.

The Lincoln Project (TLP) was only a very small part of Never Trump.  Never Trump started for me in 2015, and became a name in 2016.  TLP did not start until 2019.  Well before the 2020 election, after receiving a great deal of negative feedback about TLP at Ricochet, I switched my giving from TLP to Republican Voters Against Trump (RVAT), which Kozak I am sure that you can research.  TLP were not central to the entire Never Trump enterprise.  Never Trump existed long before TLP, and will continue to exist long after TLP.

A far greater threat to Trump is from “Never Again Trump,” (NAT) people who voted for Trump in 2020 (and often 2016), but after The Big Lie, and the January 6, 2021 Trump Riot, will never vote for Trump again.  See Cheney, Liz.

They took $25 million from leftists Pierre Omidyar and google to buy anti-Trump advertising. Then throw in all of the in-kind free media. Of course, $60 million went in to their pockets.

You get so fired up about this type of thing, and then at some point you and all of the Never Trump are going to have to propose policies and political strategies for going forward. Good luck.

Yep. The thing most of the anti Trump crowd seem to have missed is that politicians are no more than tools we elect to accomplish a result. When they succeed, Reagan, we celebrate them. When they fail, Nixon, we forget them.

Trump? Too early to tell. But I do know this much, he achieved more conservative goals in 4 years than McCain and Romney did in all their time in politics.

So, he’s got that going for him.

    Which is nice.

I think that “Never Again Trump” or NAT will outlast both NT and MAGA.  Never Again Trump consists of people who voted for Trump in 2020 (and often 2016), but after The Big Lie, and the Trump Riot have sworn off Trump forever.  I would include Mitch McConnell in that group.  Here is his blistering denunciation of Trump on the Senate Floor after the 57-43 vote.

The actual issue is, what are the policies going forward?

If this is 100% about Trump never gaining office again or whatever, this seriously puts me to sleep.

Are you really fired up about Adam Kinziger at this point? What are you excited about going forward? What policies or people? Can you explain it? Is this just about disqualifying Trump?

The MAGA agenda is very sensible given the state of the world.

President Donald Trump did more for the average American in the four years he was in office than any other president in the modern era.  He did very little that was injurious to the “little guy”, and he was emphatically NOT a Dictator (like Inslee and Newsom and Whitmer and Cuomo).  We 74+ million who voted for President Trump will never, ever, abandon him, whatever the sleazy never-Trumpers try to do to him and everyone who served in his administration.  I challenge all of our NT’s here on Ricochet to find one single area in their life that was made worse by President Trump (his tweets cannot have had any effect on anyone’s real life).

Never was a big McCain fan but did vote for him against Obama-but the stink from his former handlers at the Lincoln Project is overwhelming. Dishonest, money grifting, sex abusing &/or covering up seem to be just part of their natural talents. The good news is they sucked up most of their money from foolish lefties or Never Trumpers- a great sinkhole for the $. Just glad they slid over to the other side before all their skills became obvious for all to see….

Let’s talk about the 74 million Trump votes and the 81 million Biden votes.

I know of three people who are “NAT,” or “Never Again Trump,” Mitch McConnell, Liz Cheney and a member of Ricochet.  Trump lost Georgia, Arizona, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania by .2%, .3%, .6%, and 1.2%.  The Never Trumpers alone caused Trump to lose Georgia, Arizona, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.  If Trump had carried those four states, he would have won the Electoral College 291-247.  (Trump lost Michigan by 2.8%, which is perhaps larger than the impact of the NeverTrumpers.)

But, the Never Again Trumpers (NAT) are much larger than the Never Trumpers (NAT).  Trump won North Carolina by 1.3%, and Florida by 3.3%.  But with the Never Again Trumpers, Trump would lose North Carolina and could well lose Florida.  Game over.

I see I’m not the only one who doubts Steve Schmidt’s “I, too, was the victim of a homosexual pervert when I was young” story. I feel like he’s invented a victimhood tale which he will now use as a shield to deflect all criticism.

If I’d spent the last year promoting The Lincoln Project and posting their videos at Ricochet over and over and over again, I would apologize and I would beg forgiveness from everyone here.

What I wouldn’t do is run down yet another rabbit trail of Trump hate. Especially not now, now that he’s been acquitted. I’d probably be too embarrassed to show my face around here.
