QOTD: Guardians of Liberties
Our union is now complete; our constitution composed, established, and approved. You are now the guardians of your own liberties.
-Samuel Adams
My reason for picking this quote is two-fold:
1) I’m reading a Samuel Adams biography right now (Samuel Adams: A Life, by Ira Stoll). It’s very interesting, and I wanted to share a quote from this often overlooked but extremely important Founding Father.
2) We’re fully in the election season! Election Day is only about a week away (this being posted on October 26, 2020), and early voting is underway wherever it’s being held.
I voted this past Saturday, and I was thinking about how voting is the main way the Founders left us to be the guardians of our liberties. The problem is that if we vote for people who want to take those liberties away, we’re not fulfilling the task they left us – we are, in fact, despising the sacrifices they made and the work they did.
Hopefully those of us who still value liberty will win on November 3rd.

Is that kind of like Guardians of the Galaxy? Do we get nifty costumes? Or do we just get to vote?
This is the Quote of the Day. If you would like to share a quotation to educate, honor another, celebrate yourself, brag about your new acquisition, or just so you can rant, our sign-up sheet for November is here.
Or, if you’re looking to write something a bit more creative, you might try our Group Writing Project this month: It was a dark and stormy night…
Do children have all the liberties of adults? No, they do not – they’re cared for by adults who have responsibilities.
Do those over 18 who wish to be cared for have responsibilities? No, for they wish to be like children.
Hahaha, we could always wear costumes to the voting booth! I’m a cosplayer; I’d do it!
Interesting thought.
