Betrayed by My Fellow Americans
As citizens of the United States, we share so much. We were born in the light of greatness, or have voluntarily chosen to adopt this country as our own. We are the beneficiaries of a great tradition of freedom, men and women who risked their lives to sever ties with England and start anew. It was a daring task, a risky endeavor that is unique in human history. The men and women who took these steps knew that the establishment of a Republic would be fragile, that it would be subject to the whims and power grabs of people who care little for liberty and only relish and are obsessed with the opportunities to expand their own personal power. Those people have betrayed the Founders and affronted the sacrifices that were made to create a new nation.
Even worse, they continue to betray all of us in growing numbers. They hide behind the curtains of false compassion, virtue, and honor. They are violent, evil, and arrogant. And they care nothing about the welfare of blacks, other minorities, and the future. Instead, their goals are to lay waste to every human heart, to any remnant of human achievement and wisdom. Not a shred of decency should be left.
The tactics of the anarchists have been insidious. They have slowly transformed public education into propaganda; students at all levels have been props in their dark drama. The very people who have committed themselves to protect us, from those in local law enforcement to those in our military organizations have been brainwashed at their upper levels to believe they are serving the future. Our legislators have likewise either been programmed from the start or have been persuaded to join the ranks of the anarchists. They are feckless, foolish, and greedy.
So where do these conditions leave our country? I don’t know. What will it take for people to wake up and realize how much is at stake?
Will their recognizing that they’ve been betrayed be reason enough to try to take this country back? If so, how?

Susie Q:
Your post eloquently reflects your anger and sincerity. I am angry, too, at the events of the last two weeks. But I also struggle with an emotion I can only describe as despair.
For the first time in my life, I am worried that our nation will not survive. Like the Roman Empire, we are collapsing from within.
The abandonment of law, order, reason, and civility has been a long time coming. Leftists control the broadcast and social media and shape the narrative. Along the way, they’ve ruined our education and legal systems.
Like “peaceful” Muslims who decry terrorism but do nothing to prevent the horrific events spawned by their religion, Democrats do nothing to curtail the violence and destruction they have enabled. They hope to benefit from the chaos, regain their power in D.C., and continue their relentless assault on the values that made our nation great.
When the triumphant leftists raise their banner over the smoldering remains of this once noble country, their response to the devastation will be the same as Harry Reid’s when his claim about Mitt Romney not paying taxes for ten years was shown to be false: “Well, we won, didn’t we?”
I have been reluctant to use the word “despair” @michaelhenry, because once I acknowledge that I’m trapped in that swamp, where can I go? How do I find my way out? And yet it is the word that precisely speaks to what I’m feeling, and I suspect it speaks to others, too.
This problem has been growing worse with each incident. I’m old enough to remember the Rodney King riots when Papa Bush was president. Less than ten years ago we had that takeover of the park on Wall Street. We’ve now got a situation in Seattle where these anarchists think they are at the barricades of Les Miserable. Do we keep letting this go on? How do we stop them? Capitulation only leads to more demands. Making martyrs of them provides heroes and ideals for future conflict. I don’t have an answer.
Nor do I, @manny. I don’t want the federal govt. intervening, but these fools may not give us any other options.
How could educated people not understand? The Leftists of the 60’s told us over 50 years ago, ‘ satisfy all of our demands and we’ll just give you 12 more’ or more simply ‘the issue is not the issue , the issue is the revolution’ they don’t care one way or another about their ‘demands’ they just want to to keep everyone at each other’s throats so that there is never any peace , they have no intention of ‘resolving ‘ anything. At least let’s understand the war we are in and the enemy’s real aims.
I believe General Milley when he said that he had no idea where they were headed. He was dressed to go into the streets with the National Guard. Not in dress uniform for a photo op. Yes, the military at the top is highly political within its promotion system. Doesn’t mean it should be.
There is something to that.
Let me add to that. Now we have people in the walls of government who actually agree with these anarchists: AOC, Omar. In the past Dems played it out of political expediency. Now they are actually in elected office supporting and cheering the anarchists. This is crazy. I fear for our country.
Maybe a chunk of voters will wake up to what the Dems are actually DOING, not just what they’re SAYING. It could happen.
I hope they will. I fervently do.
