My Republican Party
This is my Republican Party. Trump and Nixon are missing. Is that Coolidge between Lincoln and TR?
Published in General
The GOP supports Trump
Using the term “Trumpism” just shows the disdian for 40 percent of America
You are essentially accusing me of racism with rhetorical tricks — setting up a straw man (the idea that I am racist) and telling me I have to knock it down for you. Demanding that I respond or get labeled a racist. I’m not having it.
I see you are finally fully engaging your authoritarian nature. Say these words or you’re a racist! Do this thing or you’re a racist!
The left has completely colonized your brain.
You gotta break a few eggs to make a Communist Omelet.
How come they never get the omelet?
You wouldn’t like it anyway. Trust me on that.
There will be omelet for all within five years.
Anyone who doesn’t agree that they have enjoyed the omelet is a counter-revolutionary, has committed a crime against the people, and will be purged.
An omelet version of the Lada.
Rich corinthian leather seats.
Is people’s corinthian leather now. “From each according to his corinthian leather, to each according to his seat.“
In Soviet Union, omelet eats you.
How did this garbage post get Post of the Week?
Why is this on the Main Feed? Oh is it because it’s “Post of the Week”?? And Why is it either of those things. Who do I ask? This is yet another reason I went from Thatcher to Coolidge month to month. Just unbelievable, especially right now. And I would like to know who’s behind this. I think I can guess.
Do you think you’re hurting Trump with this stuff? You might want to think instead of who you’re helping. Just unbelievable.
This from a “Republican” who has donated 2300 dollars to Democrats and Act Blue.
Alienating 90%+ of your clientele is brilliant marketing.
Heliography? I mean, OK, it’s 19th century technology, which seems to fit, but—heliography?
EDIT
This year
Yep. Whichever person in charge of this website who did this should do a little research next time. What a damn joke. I’d like to know if this is going to remain, and for how long. It should be taken OFF the Main Feed, and should certainly not be “Post of the Week” for pete’s sake. Based on what? Four “Likes”? Its helpful boost to the Democrats in the upcoming presidential election? Is that what this site is working toward, because if it is, they might want to think about the alternative. I am beyond disgusted.
Pretending that the phrase is just the words and not a highly packed political slogan
ismakes that a disgusting question. When did you stop beating your wife? All lives matter. And BLM doesn’t seem concerned about the majority of Black lives anyway. It’s a way to advance a Leftist agenda and funnel money and votes to Democrats. But then, you would approve.
–Annual police-civilian contacts: 375 million
–2019 fatal shootings by police: 1004 (includes those who were armed)
–2019 African Americans killed by police: 235
–2019 unarmed whites shot: 19
–2019 unarmed African Americans shot: 9
2015
Police killing of Blacks 4% of Black homicides.
Police killing of UNARMED Blacks 0.4 % of all killings
93% of Blacks killed by another Black
Oh and of course the holiest Sacrament among Democrats is abortion. How many Black Lives are aborted every year?
Although black Americans comprise 13.4% of the U.S. population, they accounted for 36.0% of the abortions in 2015, which was almost identical to the percentage of abortions (36.9%) that year among white Americans, who make up 76.6% of the population.
Just when you thought it was safe to go to the Main Feed . . . .
People – we’re supposed to be better than the left. We don’t shut down voices we don’t agree with.
I don’t agree that this is about shutting down a viewpoint.
After reading the post, responses and the rejoinders by the author I have to believe that James Lileks was “hoping” we could all rise to the occasion to help make it the “post of the week”. I believe we failed.
Having said that, and speaking as someone who did not vote for Trump, I believe Mr. Robbins approach is wrong headed.
PS and the pictures are silly.
PPS I don’t need or want to idolize any of my presidents
That isn’t what I want. What I want is for the content of this website which shows up in Google searches to be a reflection of Conservative thought, and I don’t want it to be something that helps the Democrats, not now. It’s too important. It’s admirable to espouse the hearing of all opinions and it’s admirable not to shut down voices we don’t agree with, but they’re not playing from that playbook, and until after election day 2020, we can’t afford to either.
This is supposed to be a Conservative website. As such, it has a point of view. Wanting content which supports that, and for which I’m paying, doesn’t mean I’m shutting out content I don’t agree with. It means at this moment in time, let’s not add to their mantra of “See? Even his own side hates him.”
It’s not shutting down to say that this post, which is identical to 90% of G’s posts, does not belong on the main feed. There’s no shortage of NTers around. I see Bill Kristol’s smug visage far too often around here. If the Trump supporter get upset and leave, R will cease to exist. That’s not true with the NTers. R’s management needs to remember this.
I would suggest that it’s not about shutting down a voice – there are five pages of this after all – but rather not helping to get every voice the widest possible audience.
Even among the supposed 40% I would wager the vast majority are anti-anti-Trump rather than pro-Trump. Once he’s out of office the re-evaluation of our cult of personality to this undeserving miscreant is going to be intense – not among the NeverTrumpers but the Lindsey Grahams and Ron Johnsons that sold our birthright for a mess of pottage.

Not to mention that you, Gary, keep making the mistake of conflating two practically unrelated things:
BLM, which is a political agitating group superficially concerned with Blacks and their never-ending problems,
and an arrest gone bad in Minnesota where a man died and the police were arrested, all currently under investigation.
The only common element is that the man was black, but that had nothing to do with the crime, the arrest, the misconduct, the death, the arrests, or anything. It was not a racial occurrence. BLM will certainly exploit it as one though, they are opportunists just salivating for anything like this.
But I thought you, as a lawyer, wait – forget that. I thought you, as a conservative, would try to keep the distinction clear.
