Paging John Yoo: McRibs Are Now Not Available in 16 States! [Edit: And John Yoo’s response at Comment 38!]

John Yoo and I have three things in common. We are both lawyers. We are both Conservatives. And we both eat and promote the McRib sandwich at McDonald’s.

Sadly, in the United States there are 16 states which are now McRibless! Those benighted states are AK, OR, ID, MT, UT, CO, ND, SD, MN, KY, CT, RI, MA, VT, NH, and ME.

Nine more states have McRib sandwiches only in one location. They are WA, NV, WY, NM, KS, WI, MS, AL, and WV.

Half of the states are now totally or almost totally McRibless.

This calls to mind Atlas Shrugged, which refers to the lights in this great nation flickering off one at a time until we are shrouded in darkness, cold, hungry and afraid.

The McDonalds in Flagstaff on Milton Road still has McRibs.  I will order four at a time without onion, two to eat for dinner and two to save for breakfast.

4 McRibs in 12 hours?! This is a path towards self destruction. Gary, it may be time for an intervention!

I just discovered that DC is McRibless.  That explains a lot.

In fact, there are no McRibs within the beltway.  That explains even more.

I haven’t been able to find a McDonald’s around Knoxville that has them.  I assumed that they were gone corporation-wide.  I’ll intensify my search.

The McRib Locator indicates that there may be McRibs in Cedar Bluff, TN, west of Knoxsville off of I-40.

One great point for me is that the McRib Locator does not indicate that McRibs are available in Flagstaff.  I am not going to post them on the McRib Locator; more McRibs for me!

How about Weaverville, NC, north of Asheville, NC?  Also Crossville further west on I-40?  There look to be half a dozen locations in the suburbs north of Atlanta.  Good luck.

What is a McDonald rib? Why do some states not carry them?  Taste or politics?

A McRib is a pork sandwich made of pork by-products just as McNuggets are made of chicken by-products.

McDonalds is large, that when they offer the McRibs, it pushes up the cost of the pork by-products.  So McRibs come and go.

Get it right.  It’s not a McDonald rib.  It’s a Mcrib.  It’s a processed pork sandwich with the pickles and onions sliding off, making a mess.  But it’s good.

    Hi Randy,

I think that you are a victim of “autocorrect.”  The correct name is “McRib” with a capital R.

If we are to bring back American Manufacturing jobs, we could do worse than subsidizing the demand for McRibs.

Of course not, that would be ludicrous.

Years ago, there was a McDonald’s on I-65 in northern Indiana that had the McRib year round.  I don’t go that way nearly as often as I used to, so haven’t checked in the last decade or so to see if they still do.
