Paging John Yoo: McRibs Are Now Not Available in 16 States! [Edit: And John Yoo’s response at Comment 38!]
John Yoo and I have three things in common. We are both lawyers. We are both Conservatives. And we both eat and promote the McRib sandwich at McDonald’s.
Sadly, in the United States there are 16 states which are now McRibless! Those benighted states are AK, OR, ID, MT, UT, CO, ND, SD, MN, KY, CT, RI, MA, VT, NH, and ME.
Nine more states have McRib sandwiches only in one location. They are WA, NV, WY, NM, KS, WI, MS, AL, and WV.
Half of the states are now totally or almost totally McRibless.
This calls to mind Atlas Shrugged, which refers to the lights in this great nation flickering off one at a time until we are shrouded in darkness, cold, hungry and afraid.

I’ve been toying for a long time with the idea of doing a “Where Have We Been to McDonald’s?” post in John Yoo’s honor.
You beat me to the idea, and probably did it better.

Ha! The only thing keeping him in LA LA Land . . .

Good to know. Good to know.
Two out of three ain’t bad.
Great news! We still have McRibs at the Flagstaff McDonalds!
Uh oh! Bob Thompson and I have clashed recently. Is it possible that Bob will zoom up on Interstate 17 to buy out their stock of McRibs? Even worse, is it possible that Kozak and Drew from Wisconsin will contact Bob and will fund his purchase of all remaining McRibs?
As my minister will say, “Everything is in Divine Order.” Still, something to consider.
Thanks for the great post, @garyrobbins!
I blame the Chinese. Their pork shortage — see our discussion at the Pacific Century podcast — is probably driving pork prices beyond the means of simple, hearty establishments like McDonald’s.
What to do? I ask Ricochet for advice on what to eat know that pork-ageddon is upon us. Does the chicken sandwich at popeye’s really live up to the hype, or more important, could it ever substitute for the goodness of grilled pork? The Costco Italian sausage is a favorite, but I’ve only seen it in Philadelphia. The dorito-shelled taco at taco bell? The carnitas at Chipotle? Help!!!
Getting a comment from the great John Yoo is right up there with getting a telephone call from Mark Sanford. http://ricochet.com/695593/getting-a-phone-call-from-mark-sanford/ But with getting a comment from John Yoo, I didn’t contribute $1,000 to him and/or his campaign!
They recently got rid of the brats at Wisconsin Costco foodcourts, in the interest of “standardizing the menu across all of the stores” (according to the person I asked ), so I suspect the Italian is probably gone too.
We still have McRibs in Flagstaff!
