Candice Owens: Too Aggressive or Is This What We Need More Of?

On Powerline Blog, I watched two videos of Candice Owens testifying at a Congressional Hearing on White Nationalism and Hate Crimes. Personally, I feel she did a great job, but I wonder if her style of being blunt, aggressive, and forceful will be effective.

You only need to watch about the first and last minute of the second video. The rest you have already heard about a thousand times.

Thoughts?

Candice Owens is fantastic. The assertiveness she exhibits is entirely appropriate. Loved watching her stuff Nadler in his locker. He knew he’d been called out, knew he was wrong and its clear he’s seldom been called to the carpet like that.

I’d really like to hear her Grandfather interviewed – I’d be as proud as a peacock if that was my grand daughter.

I find this assertiveness, based in fact and logic is just the right way to react to the Left – in congress, in the media, local school board meetings. Everywhere.

    Amen.

This is how you do it – even if you’re not black.

And there’s a cost politically for these people promoting this fraud. How many converts to the narrative do they get from this charade? Few if any. How much more fear and anger are they ginning up? I think they’ve already dialed the amp up to “ten”.

But how many people is Candace waking up, or putting some contrarian ideas into? However many, I’m pretty sure it’s  more.

This is precisely why they want to silence people like Candace.

I agree with the above comments.  Just wondered if I was off base.  I have been told I am too “prickly” when I respond that way.

She reminded me of Clarence Thomas responding to the Anita Hill accusations.  Thomas was also raised by a hard working grandfather, who never told them that they couldn’t succeed.

The Congressional hearings give the Congresspeople the opportunity to behave like ahrsehats, and it’s awesome when the recipient of the Congresspersons arhsehattery sticks it right back up their pompous Congressional giggy.

Thanks to Candace Owen more people are now aware Congressman Ted Lieu (D CA-33)  is a bonafide idiot wanker, and Committee chairman Jerry Nadler (D NY-10)  is just another idiot wanker only with the bigger chair and a gavel.

I’ve mentioned the idea here in the past but I still hope that President Trump would host some diner at the White House to recognize black conservatives. They are some of the freest thinkers and bravest people out there today. They could easily fill a ballroom there. Imagine an event with Thomas Sowell, Larry Elder, Shelby Steele, Walter Williams, Herman Cain, Justice Thomas… – make sure to include young kids from Candice Owen’s organization and YFA, include the media and let them stew. Include Diamond & Silk and the Hodge Twin, Kanye West evens  – make it fun and serious and broad based socioeconomically & culturally.

Oh, I was aware of that event (it was terrific) – this would include the adults. Hell, include the kids to foster mentoring/intergenerational solidarity & networking. The adults haven’t been recognized as they should be. I don’t care for that Kanye West’s music but imagine what intellectual exploration a photo of him & Sowell at a table discussing ideas could spark in the wider culture!

I’ve always thought those people who don’t pay close attention to politics until election time look at both parties and see this:

They see one party fight with unlimited passion for their beliefs, even getting nasty with the opposition.

Then they look at the other side and see a bunch of limp pantywaists who will not aggressively fight for what they believe in.

When these voters compare the two parties, they can only conclude the Democrats must have the better agenda because they fight for their principles, whereas the Republicans merely talk about how conservatism is better, then sit back and take the abuse Democrats heap on them.  Put another way, they conclude conservatism isn’t worth fighting for, so why vote for conservatives?

I’m still flummoxed about where all this “white nationalism” garbage came from. We don’t have a white nationalism problem. The number of white nationalists in the United States is statistically zero. They have no power or influence. Yet we’re constantly lectured by the left/media/Democrats that they’re hiding behind every lamppost. White Nationalist Panic.

Seemingly intelligent people buy into this nonsense in the same way they bought into the “Russians Stole the Election!” nonsense.

    They’re just fearmongering.

Candace Owens is a very brave soul. She is out there taking flack all the time for standing up for what’s right and still comes back to tell the truth, time and again.  Bravo to her. We need many more like her.

Drew: “I’m still flummoxed about where all this “white nationalism” garbage came from.”

It’s the latest catchphrase from the Progressives to describe Trump voters as Vance says.

If you are white and believe  in the Constitution, all our inalienable rights, and American Exceptionalism, you obviously qualify as a nasty, ugly, somehow racist “White Nationalist”.

You’ve also probably listened to Rush Limbaugh a time or two, which is also a grievious thoughtcrime deserving of some unrelenting punishment.

Whether or not America is ‘post-Christian’, she definitely no longer admires meekness and humility. Americans are mostly incapable of seeing someone as ‘being the better man’ and fewer and fewer of them value ‘being the adult in the room’.

Politics has always had a soft spot for the fire-and-brimstone speech, but it is now used by the a-religious.

We speak softly at our peril.

To answer the question: no that’s not too aggressive. It’s the right amount of pushback needed. We need more people on our side willing to call out the Democrats for this nonsense.

And I loved how she responded to Nadler who reprimanded her for using the word “stupid.” She was having none of it.

These politicians think they should be protected from being criticized by the proles. Who do they think they work for? Who do they think pays their salaries? They should be grateful the proles don’t show up en masse with tar and feathers.

I vote for being aggressive. Did anyone else listen to the woman who spoke right after Candace Owens? Boilerplate hate speech, Trump caused, we need to investigate, blah blah blah. But she also advocates regulating speech online! For our own good, of course – who isn’t against hate? Only hating haters aren’t against hate. And what is hate? Oh, they’ll tell us when they see it. They’ll let us know immediately.

It’s frightening stuff. Backing down from it or rationalizing it or making excuses for the excesses hasn’t worked the last sixty years. Time to be aggressive started long ago and we need to catch up. They can’t get away with this.

I’d never heard of Candice Owens. I heard a good part of her speech on the radio today and I was amazed.  She has a story to tell, as an African American woman, a conservative and someone who grew up in the South along with her sharecropper grandfather.  This is a story that the new radical Democratic Socialist party doesn’t want you to hear. I challenge anyone to dispute what she had to say. She’s not a victim.  If you Google her speech, anyone and everyone is slamming it – what else is new?  If she had all the right liberal political talking points, she would be portrayed differently – and she sees right through it – Go Candice!

Re #27 above ( I don’t want to copy such dirt)

This is another giant ‘tell’ we are in a full-blown propaganda war. The media corporations are working for their own interests and have no care for the truth. In fact they are deliberately promoting lies and falsehoods.

    Why?

It’s more than just being on the side of the Democrat Party and agenda. And it’s not just for clicks.

They are playing with people’s lives, not just Owens or Trumps, they are instigating hatred, which has real-life consequences.

And this also shows how the stance taken by some over-prominent Republicans of calling “balls and strikes” is so pathetic. They are umpiring in a fully corrupted game.

The good news is that if and when people actually are exposed to the truth they see these blatant and outrageous falsehoods that are clearly deliberate in nature, and these outlets lose all credibility and they see through the agenda.

I was wary of her at first. Her old posts on her various accounts were being posted by a few conservatives when she first started out. She was a full-bore leftist. Then on top of that, her early conservative posts were very abrasive and somewhat jarring (all that plantation talk). I was fearful that she was a plant of some sort. In the last year or so, her work with Turning Point USA has been spectacular. We need more of her. Much like Faith Goldy, the people who hate on her from the right are pretty ignorant. Slowly, those folks are either finding the light or the light is finding them and they are returning to the Marxist sewers they crawled out of.
