Flake’s Unaware He’s In A War

Image result for Senator Flake AvenattiFor the past week, everyone I have come in contact with says they are furious. I am furious. Anger over the clearly politically driven power grab and coup attempt hijacking a constitutional process that was about to seat a Conservative appointee on the Supreme Court. Granted, most of my circle are right of center. My monthly cigar group is a seething, frothing group of men of a certain age who are incredulous over the blatantly political, rank accusations. However, what has surprised me are those friends who dislike, even despise President Trump, who are deeply uncomfortable with this sad, disgusting chapter in our country’s political history. They also believe this is a horrific political hit job on a decent man.

I am old enough to remember Obama’s liberal appointees — Justices Kagan and Sotomayer — enjoying their confirmation process with dignity and respect.

I remember Justice Clarence Thomas being branded and still being accused of sexual assault with zero proof.

I remember Chappaquiddick Kennedy making a new verb out of Nominee Bork’s name.

Now, for less than a handful of Republican Senators, namely Flake, Collins, and Murkowski, the committee is jumping through hoops to placate these wavering flowers.

Judicial Committee member Flake just suggested he doesn’t believe these accusers are part of a “left-wing conspiracy.”

This completely ignores Feinstein strategically holding the complaint for 45 days before submitting before the vote.

This completely ignores and defies common sense which would suggest the reported 10 teenage gang rape parties would have been reported or discussed sometime, by some person over the past 35 years.

This completely ignores the messenger is the self-serving, vile porn lawyer, Michael Avenatti who CNN and MSNBC seem to have made a media sensation, but who reminds the rest of us of every insulting joke we ever heard about lawyers.

Avenatti is Saul Goodman without the charm. He is Alex Jones on meth. Shakespeare suggested what to do with lawyers like Avenatti in Henry VI.

Sen. Flake, if you prevent a vote from taking place in the Senate, you will cause the losses of Republican seats across the country. This will allow the growing massive Marxist wave to crash onto our land and the cultural impact will affect our liberty, free speech and freedom for generations. The Left has no desire for justice. They only seek power.

SCOTUS is the city of Verdun in WWI and the Republicans need to fight for every square inch of ground. Sen. Flake, you carry the weight of an entire country’s future in your considered vote.

The conventional thought on the Left is that no matter what happens, they have branded Kavanaugh as ‘another ‘ Justice who committed sexual assault. People on the Left still think Thomas did the things he was accused of.

    Correct.

Dave Sussman: I am old enough to remember Obama’s liberal appointees — Justices Kagan and Sotomayer — enjoying their confirmation process with dignity and respect.

The next “liberal” appointees will enjoy their confirmation processes with dignity and respect. When a “respected moderate Democrat” like DiFi becomes one of the Maenads, it normalizes insanity. To be “moderate” the next time, all a Leftist has to do is not be completely rabid.

If Kavanagh is confirmed, the same madness will recur at any decision he’s involved with that offends any SJW group. It will recur for any future nominee.

If someone in Obama’s State Department had had the integrity to resign over the Iran deal, would you have characterized that as being owned?

Others have made this prediction too, but I don’t follow the logic. Why would Republicans stay home or vote for Democrats because of the current fiasco? In other words, why would they cut off their nose to spite their face? It doesn’t make sense to me that voters would be that dumb.

Why go out and vote when they’re just going to screw you anyway.

I know I’m disheartened. No matter the result.

Then vote simply to keep from giving the Democrats more power at the moment. Then vote in the primaries to kick people out.

Better be sure to do it on the first try, or the Establishment will appeal to Democrats in the run-off. And then blackball anyone who publicly supported or funded the challenger.

I actually agree with you, but things like Mississippi and the war on the Tea Party will make plenty of people view it as a hopeless rigged game. Combine anger with despair and it becomes more likely that one’s emotional limits are reached, canceling out appeals to rational self-interest.

I hear you, and I understand the dynamic at work. Still doesn’t mean I can’t keep pointing out the obvious – at least what’s obvious to me. :)

Maybe he knows we’re at war and he’s a coward.

He and those like him are coming to terms with their irrelevance. This current disgrace has brought many McMuffin and 16′ non-voters back into the pack. If so, November could be a momentous victory for the republic.

Apparently you aren’t aware that we almost went from a two-thirds majority to barely holding a majority in the Virginia House of Delegates in 2015, and us losing solid Republican seats in Pennsylvania, Oklahoma and Wisconsin.

    Yes you are.

There are three tribes: (1) Trump and his true believers, (2) the Jennifer Rubin’s of the world and (3) the above individuals like me who support Trump when he is right (judges, taxes & regulations) and oppose him when he is wrong (Charlottesville, tariffs & authoritarianism) .

This third group is willing to look at things objectively, and to not be swept up by blind loyalty to or hatred of Trump. I am part of that third group, and I believe there are many more of us. Alienate us at your risk, by demanding loyalty.

One last thing about Jeff Flake. He is a very devout member of the LDS church. (Full disclosure: I am not LDS.) Right now the national statistics are that only 4% of married couples are both virgins on their wedding night. Jeff Flake is the most likely member of the Senate to be part of that select group. If Flake votes against Kavanaugh, it will that he is acting in good faith.

    Thanks counselor.

Virginia was before “Trump.” And you may have noticed the explosion in housing and salaries in Northern Virginia, making Virginia more like NY or CA, dominated by rich leftist enclaves. Maybe you missed Democrats losing a solid seat in Texas?  But special elections don’t predict general elections, either way.

Yes, and. And he dearly seeks the same crowning moment as McCain. With the eyes of the nation upon him, striding to record his deciding vote, voting to break the promise he and his party ran on for many years. Gleefully smiling with a thumbs up to the Democrats and a camera.

And. The Democrats went to crazy town, again, and put him in a tight spot. If he does as he wishes, he will never escape having smeared the Kavanaugh family. The vote will have very visible and personal effects on a sympathetic wife and two little girls. “Gee, I didn’t mean for it, I never knew that…” is not going to fly.

So, with Lindsey Graham saying a “no” vote necessarily affirms Kavanaugh is a sexual predator, Flake is in a tight spot. He tried managing it with a floor speech, in which he said he did not believe Kavanaugh is a sexual predator. But Graham’s marker is still there. The second and third accusations, each wilder than the last, made a “no” vote toxic, unless you are a Democrat.

Interesting development: the Republicans’ hired gun, the outside counsel who will lead their questioning of both witnesses, is an Arizona attorney. She has specialized in sex crime prosecution.

On August 1, 2018, I posted the article “President Trump needs to send Brett Kavanaugh to Zimbabwe” to find Senator Jeff Flake for the Kavanaugh confirmation.

    http://ricochet.com/540093/president-trump-needs-to-send-brett-kavanaugh-to-zimbabwe/

The Jeff Flake defenders stated that we should not worry.  The hearings are to start in a month.

I thought that was too close to the election back then.  Why were the Republicans wasting time?  That was the one mistake Cocaine Mitch made.  He gave the Democrats too much time to intimidate, gossip, and write fiction stories.

    That may be true.

If the nomination fails, and we lose the Senate, does Mitch have the stones to push someone through in a lame duck?  I think so.

I think that Flake’s greatest and grandest dream would be to vote against Kavanaugh…not because he doesn’t think he is qualified, or even that he did anything he is accused of…but just to stick it to Trump like McCain did.  I could even see him give a thumbs down on the floor as his swan song as he moseys off to irrelevancy.

We have been getting it…some are starting to see that SCOTUS votes are actually simple political exercises and have nothing to do with what they used to be.  The Dems realized this in the 80s…it took the GOP until 2016 to get to near the same level of consideration.

They’re up to something. How do the GOP not know these people by now? Every one of them keeps making sure to use the words “short delay” and “current charges.”  They’re setting up some kind of new tactic. If you give these scumbags an inch they will take a mile every time. They’re going to find a way to try to stretch this “short” delay into as long a delay as they can.
