Ladies and Gentlemen: It. Is. On.
Tomorrow is the opening ceremony for Fuerzas Comando 18. This year, the competition will be held in the wilds of Panama. Special Operators from about 19 countries from the Caribbean, the US, and Central and South America will square off to see who will be the Fuerzas Commando champion.
It’s a week of suck. Don’t come if you don’t want to hurt. You can follow the competition on Facebook via the SOCSOUTH page.
I’ve posted this before, but I’ll do it again. It’s the best promo made for FC. And it’s got about .37 seconds of Mongo in it, so there’s that.

Is that you wearing the GOPe t-shirt? ;-)
Nah. I wore the go-pro on the water jump. Like I said, about .37 seconds.
So I take it that you’re too mature to participate? (Was that tactful enough?)
Well, yeah. But officially the reason is:
R-E-T-I-R-ED
If I were allowed to, I’d certainly jump on the team for the big win. Until about 7 minutes 23 seconds into the first event, when something broke or gave out.
Columbia wins it the most often? If so, what do you attribute that to?
@iwe: Colombia does have the best track record. In my opinion, two reasons for this:
First, they’ve worked hand-in-glove with Americans so long, they’ve adapted most of our training and teaching tactics, techniques and procedures. (BTW, you want to see counterinsurgency done right, look at the US/Colombian efforts against the FARC. Of course, it took 30 years). They have a truly sound and professional NCO corps that know their business.
This begs the question, “Why doesn’t the US do better?” Because the US just shows up and competes. A lot of countries–to include Colombia–will hold a selection and assessment of their very best commandos, and then sequesters them away where they do nothing for a year but train on competition tasks.
Traditionally, although Team America rarely wins it, we do almost always sweep all the shooting events.
Oh. I thought your title referred to the Resurgency.
Whoa, Boss! Motivation to infinity….
0:43?
02:41; the guy wearing the go-pro for the water jump.
The production team affixed the go-pro to my (water jump) helmet. They wanted good footage of the stick, floating down to the water.
I told them they better 100 mph tape that into position, since it would get jerked out of position on exit. The producer knew waaaay more than me, so they blew me off, and the camera ended up looking down at me instead of at the rest of the stick.
Guess the next time the producer will listen to the guy who knows exactly how hard the opening shock is doing a ramp jump off of a C-130.
…and this my friends is harder than it looks. My guess is that the Colombians got that ‘sound and professional NCO corps’ primarily due to their long (30 years) exposure to U.S. NCOs and necessity.
Exactemente.
You are a handsome rascal BM. I’ll give you that.
Carry on.
Por supuesto.
…y tan modesto… :-)
BTW: Don’t the Marines always beat the Rangers (and such) during their annual Best Ranger Competition? Just sayen’
And, afterwards, throw a party so awesome that their opponents’ loss becomes cause for celebration…even among their opponents? :-)
Uh…No.
You lie for what!!!
Well, we did win in 2003 and you guys cheated us out of it.
Oh yea, and I’m pretty sure that we won again in ’91.
Cheated again too!
Tell ya what, hermano: I’ll spot you ’91 and ’03.
It’s still a pretty far cry from
Just sayin’.
PS: if you ain’t cheatin’, you ain’t tryin’. If you get caught, you ain’t tryin’ hard enough.
Something to savor, gents…Especially SGT. Robert Jones, USMC and PO3 Anthony Dieli, USN, both retired, on the track (@ ~:33) and CPT. James Hood, SOCOM, retired, in the pool – rockin’ the patriotic trunks – (@ ~2:35). One outstanding bit of moto leads to another.
Muchisimas gracias, Sñr. Caballero! Always looking out for the “Angel Pup”… :-)
Is the Gruta Azul still open?
No idea. Sorry.
This speaks well of you.
Great video and your feet look good in fins………..
