Is this available on itunes as well as soundcloud? I was looking for it there but haven’t been able to find it so far.
PS: Some baby goats surely do look like little lambs, but have you seen baby boers? IMHO they look more like puppies :)
Will do! His job is slow all year right up until the holidays, then it’s drill, baby, drill. He’s only gotten to spend 1 Christmas and 1 Thanksgiving with me in all the years we’ve been together.
I have been harassing Ryan to do new episodes, but apparently it’s not working.
He still has to post the wife takeover/me filling in for Terry live episode, even though it got cut off early because the restaurant we were in closed down.
Oh, so the rest of us suck. Love you too!
Suck up.
I don’t enjoy firing my 380 either
Fun episode. I’ve yet to fire a .380 that I like either, so I don’t own one. I have a Ruger LC9 that is a great warm weather carry piece, but it’s the first gen one with the hammer-fire and the sucky trigger.
Interesting that you went to an all-girls school, VC. I would love to hear more, as one of my sisters did likewise, and my own school was single sex for my first 9 years (then went coed).
“I went to an all-girls school…until they caught me and called the cops.”—Roy Moore
Along the lines of your church hymn discussion. My thoughts:
I politely encourage you to harass him more.
Enjoyed the chat ladies – what’s not to like? Guns, slaying your own food, quilting (I am uh @ two years into the making of my own T-shirt quilt – just couldn’t throw them away), bodily functions of cats in various scenarios (personally I think Cat Yak is a great name for something, perhaps a book JDS?), rolling the dice to see if you can breach through the air tight security at airports with ammo, and hymns. Again what’s not like.
Happy Thanksgiving
Just a quick question… with gun selection being weather related… Is it also better to carry the larger caliber gun in cold weather because it has better penetration power? and less likely to be stopped by cooler weather clothing that your aggressor maybe wearing?
I have heard that the NYPD stopped carrying .38s because they sometimes wouldn’t penetrate winter clothing.
to contribute to the goat rodeo:
If I may be a bit silly: If penetration is an issue, carry a rifle instead.
The .38s were revolvers, and so when the police switched to automatics, they changed to a round designed for automatics.
In statistical studies of police shootings, conducted by Massad Ayoob, .38 special, 9mm, .45acp, .40S&W all fared equally in terms of lethality (measured by number of shots to achieve a kill). These are the 4 most popularly carried calibers.
The only calibers to stand out were .357 magnum and .357 Sig (which is ballistically identical to .357 magnum, but in a squat case that can run through an automatic).
.45 doesn’t necessarily get any better penetration through thick clothing, and may actually be worse in some instances as it is slower and heavier, and above-all wider than the 9mm slugs. Kinetic energy is 1/2MV^2, and while a .45 is heavier, velocity has a lot more bearing on energy delivered, and 9mm moves a lot quicker than .45 (though momentum is just MV, so a .45 shoves pretty hard when it hits).
The reason I carry a larger caliber in winter is purely because the loser, bulkier clothes allow me to. I can’t carry my 9 mm’s in summer usually because they print to easily under the lighter (both material and color) clothes. My .380 is perfect for hot weather because it’s so concealable- I can wear linen pants or an above the knee skirt, and the weight of the gun won’t drag it down.
Yes, I understood that from the podcast. but I also wondered if the carrying the larger caliber in cooler weather was wise, because of its better ability to punch through bulky cool weather clothing.
Even if so, it would rarely be important, as the vast majority of defensive use of firearms for self-protection do not involve actually pulling the trigger.
I wear jeans year round so I may end up going with the 9mm. Summer here doesn’t get that hot generally and I’m wearing a hoodie by the time it gets dark.
I once had a Beretta .380 that I really enjoyed shooting. It had the look and feel of the issue 9mm.

I’ll have to look into that. I would LOVE to get rid of my Bodyguard and get a new .380 that I don’t hate shooting.
I have considered the Walther 380. I love my friends PPQ.
If he’s a 90s Kevin Costner, might be your loss.
I saw a few stories that its the 25th anniversary of the movie, and the one song that destroys Karaoke night.
It has been a few years, but this is how I remember my Beretta looked: [Well, I cannot figure out how to insert a picture; just imagine a half-size M9, the military issue weapon with a frame mounted safety, which I greatly prefer, instead of the slide mounted one.]
Unless I’ve missed it, there is not a link to the posts where @vicrylcontessa wrote all about how to dress when carrying concealed. So here is one, here is the other.
You should try out the Colt Mustang! I absolutely loved shooting it!
VC,
Mrs III just listen to your quilting discussion, (and thanked you for the generous comments) and want you to know that she can install rod pockets for hanging rather than being a target for cat vomit, when we come out to Portlandn next August (unless she already install the pockets). She also want you to look closely for some personalized “features” she imbedded in the choice of fabrics she used to construct the quilt.
yours,
III
Any plans for an Episode 3?
We’ve been having some trouble aligning schedules since the holidays. We’ve all three (including @1967mustangman who edits the show) been crazy busy.
