Kathy Griffin Wants Attention Again; Update: Griffin Apologizes

D-list comic Kathy Griffin is transitioning to ISIS-inspired prop comedy. In a photo shoot, likely leaked to TMZ by Griffin herself, she is shown holding an effigy of President Donald Trump — in the form of his severed, bloody head.

Griffin’s attack on Trump is the latest in her desperate cries for attention. While hosting CNN’s New Year’s Eve with Anderson Cooper, she regularly drops the F-bomb live and once groped and pretended to fellate her co-host. She televised a public pap smear before a cheering crowd and mocked Jesus during an Emmy acceptance speech. Griffin has been banned from “Ellen,” “The Tonight Show,” and “The View,” among others.

According to TMZ, Griffin joked she would need to “move to Mexico once the pics got released.” Instead, she’ll just stay in her Bel-Air mansion, receive accolades from the far left, and yell at middle America for confusing her with Carrot Top and Andy Dick.

Once the photo hit social media, most conservatives were outraged, wondering if the press that demanded a rodeo clown be fired for wearing an Obama mask will hold Griffin to any standards whatsoever. Others wondered if the best punishment was simply to ignore the stunt, starving Griffin of the attention she so greedily craves. Which reaction do you recommend?

Update: Griffin has issued a video apology and has asked the photographer to take down the photo.

My understanding is that she’s also being accused by Muslim groups of cultural appropriation.

    Now, this is real comedy.

I choose to believe her apology. It might be self-serving or it might not be but decency requires that you lean towards charity and mercy.

One of the essential elements of conflict, especially armed conflict, is to dehumanize your opponent before the killing commences. It doesn’t matter if you killed your opponent, because they are “Just the enemy.”

I sincerely hope that Civil War is not in our future. I don’t want it, and I don’t think most sensible people want it either. But the extreme hard left is showing more and more propensity to dehumanizing the people they see is their opponents, namely, we conservatives.

He’s just Donald Trump. We can joke about killing him because he’s just Donald Trump, it’s not like he’s a real human being. Sarah Palin? She’s not a real woman. The NRA? They’re the real enemy of the Democratic Party, not “all enemies, foreign and domestic.”

Dehumanization is really bad and it everywhere in American politics. I too am worried about it.

Well I am open to persuasion. If you want to do the research on her beliefs and her conduct feel free to do so. I’d rather just accept her apology and not research her.

I get a feeling this country is getting more like the early scenes of Gone With The Wind where everyone is talking about how great and easy the war will be. I’ve been thinking that for about 6 and a half years and it only seems to be getting worse. Like Kevin says, no one sensible should want this. If it comes, it will be worse than anyone thinks.

I’m reminded of the saying, “Conservatives think liberals are wrong.  Liberals think conservatives are evil.”

But getting to the subject of a civil war and how bad it will be, I guess it depends.  The hard left has certainly shown a propensity for “brown shirt” mob violence.

Sure, both sides, hard left and hard right have individual wackos that carry out acts of violence.  But violent mobs seem to be confined to the hard left.  But beyond barely organized mobs, will the left really have the stomach to conduct a literal civil war against people who simply want to be left alone and withdraw, such as secession?

After all, slavery isn’t in the mix this time.  Oppression is.

Are you kidding? Her agent is probably fielding multiple offers for her, now. Somebody has to replace Jimmy Fallon on the Tonight Show after he kills himself out of guilt for that time he was nice to Donald Trump.

Maybe Gonzaga will hire her. After all, it hired Melissa Click after she was fired at the U of Missouri.

She said she went to far, but didn’t explain what would be the right amount of hate.

Idiocracy comes to mind.  Most comics today are not funny. They don’t observe ordinary life and find the humor in it. Nobody thinks ordinary is worthwhile, but almost everyone lives an ordinary life. We don’t live in Lake Wobegone, where we are all above average, etc.

Jeanne Robertson, a 70 year old woman, is one of the funniest humorists I know today.

No, she did not “go too far”.  This is  exactly what the Left is like.  She’s Rachel Maddow in a fright wig.   That photo should be shown every day,  so we never forget what we are up against.

She is not the first on the Left to call for Trump to be killed.

    Our president is extremely vulnerable.

    If anything happens to him

we born-again Americans are coming after them.

Griffin is nominally a comedian. The problem is that while I imagine a severed presidential head could be funny as part of a bit in a National Treasure “I’m going to steal the declaration” meets Pulp Fiction dead guy in the back seat kind of way, Griffin made no effort to make a joke out of this. It’s not even clear that it was intended to be one. What we have is a nothing but a picture of the nominal comedian holding a gruesome prop. Intentionally creepy performance art at best, a cry for help at worst.

Yuh.  You had a post about the “cold civil war”; I say it’s heating up,now.

The Left better pray Trump doesn’t even get a cold.

I want a T-shirt with the Griffin picture on it, saying something like : what goes around comes around”.

I just realized what this photo reminds me of : Les Tricoteuses de la Guillotine…

Remember George W’s “cameo” in Game of Thrones? This savagery is what lies behind the Left’s mask. Pry all levers of power from their hands and permanently disenfranchise them.

Sometimes, people just want to fight and are looking for an excuse. Frankly, one side can only call the other side murderers for so long before people begin to believe it.

And historically, the hard left has bloody track record internationally.  If their numbers hit a critical mass, a lot of people would go along just out of intimidation and self-defense.

Now this idiot is apologizing. Note that she’s not apologizing for being an idiot. She’s only sorry she displayed her idiocy so publicly, instead of hiding it as she should have done, if not for her own sake than for ours.

And let’s take a moment to gaze at the mote in our own eye. Yes, today’s liberals are self-centered, spoiled brats who have the tolerance of a Puritan minister and less ideological diversity than the Soviet Union had, back in the day.

But they are still human, and are still subject to the same fears and foibles that all of us have. I’ll treat them as humans, and continue to do so.

But I won’t let them destroy me.
