Ricochet is the best place on the internet to discuss the issues of the day, either through commenting on posts or writing your own for our active and dynamic community in a fully moderated environment. In addition, the Ricochet Audio Network offers over 50 original podcasts with new episodes released every day.
Flyover Country, Episode 66 – All the Lonely People
For our first podcast of the new year, episode 66, we are joined by Ricochet member Titus Techera, who has also written for National Review Online and The Federalist. Titus is a Romanian, who has recently spent time in the US, and our discussion revolves around the American psyche and our particular current brand of politics.
[note: I apologize for the terrible audio, which makes Ryan appear significantly louder than Terry and Titus. We will be sure to fix this before our next podcast!]

That is a very interesting consideration.
Could part of the problem be that the internet is so impersonal? I have a personal vow to never “talk” politics on Facebook. I believe that discussions of politics in person, one-on-one, will be far more polite and effective. And in any event, I would approach a topic differently depending on who I am talking with.
I believe that’s ultimately it. The internet is partly an un-American thing. It makes it hard to see persons there. After all, persons are embodied!
People still sometimes hide behind the excuse of anonymity: But Ricochet can get really ugly without anonymity. Facebook, above all, is what it is precisely because it bet against anonymity, on faces & identities, on self-obsessions. People say horrifying things to friends & family daily on facebook. It’s the American way!
Best episode ever? This might be the best episode ever.
i can’t wait to preorder @titustechera‘s book!
