But if she persuades the country that this is an arcane scientific topic that really does not matter to our daily lives and should not matter to our government, will she even need to do that? It seems to me that taking the issue out of the realm of politics is an even bigger win.

I know this sounds appealing but these are issues of power politics. It seems to me that we need to go head on against these blatant power plays. I just don’t see where this approach with the present Democratic Party and the Left in general have been successful.

Trying to reason with community organizers suckers us in and trimming on an issue won’t work. They don’t lose focus — they double down.

Do you have any examples where your advice has worked recently?

Larry, I haven’t been ignoring your question. I have been wracking my brain, and the truth is, I can’t come up with any examples. I’m just hopeful that this might work, because we’ve seen lots of smart, principled people crash and burn when they try to educate a public (and a media establishment) that would rather think in black & white terms.

I really think we have bent over backward far enough with the left. They just view it as weakness — just like all bullies. Bullies need to be dealt with on a different plane because that is where they have been successful. No more Romneys and Doles and Bob Michels. Enough already.

Does Carly really strike you as another Romney or Dole or Michel?

Son of Spengler: disagreeing without delegitimizing the views of her interviewer.

I think Fiorina does this well.

(note: i’ve noticed autocorrect has added Fiorina. The first few days after the debate, it would always autocorrect to Florina. Now, type away, just right, Fiorina.)

No, not generally. But, she’s in a campaign right now.

I have to say that I’m very impressed with her strategy for this campaign — it’s very well thought out. She’s planned for this, studied for this and is carrying out pre-planned tactics at each opportunity as it presents itself. Very impressive.

Romney was very good in the primary of 2012. He was rested and ready. But, during the general campaign he lost confidence in his own judgment and let the loser advisers have the reins. It’s funny: I want these type of advisers to have input into the process but they are mechanics not prophets. They seem to always want to play the safe game and the Dems know this about us and get inside our OODA loop with great ease in most recent elections. From the 1930s to the 1990s the Republicans got comfortable with losing and making the best of it — until Newt, that is. Newt planned and carried out his takeover with great panache.

Is Carly our Thatcher, another Newt? I hope so.
