LA Dodgers Ignore Baseball to Focus on Repenting for Their Sins
The clip below is from a fascinating article on FoxNews – please read the whole thing. As you may recall, the Los Angeles Dodgers invited “The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence” to appear at their LGBTQWTF night, in their ongoing efforts to educate the community of Los Angeles about baseball. Then the Dodgers were reminded that a huge part of their fan base is Hispanic Catholics who don’t appreciate the open ridicule of that group, so they un-invited them. Well, you will not be surprised to learn that after further reflection, the Dodgers have changed their mind again:
My goodness. Those must have been some meetings. So after “generous discussions with The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence,” the Dodgers are pleased that the Sisters “have agreed to receive the gratitude of our collective communities for the lifesaving work that they have done tirelessly for decades.”
Wow.
The picture in the article shows a sample of the work they have been doing tirelessly for decades. It looks different than the work I’ve done over the course of my career. Different type of thing, I guess.
There’s so much here. But I can’t get past the “generous discussions with The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.” The Dodgers say they are thankful that The Sisters deigned to meet with them. Chairman Mao would be proud.
This is not about gay issues. It’s not about abortion. It’s not even about the Catholic faith. And it certainly is not about baseball, which is what the LA Dodgers used to be focused on. It’s not about any of those things.
It’s about power. That’s it.
Chairman Mao would be proud.
If this doesn’t scare you, you’re not paying attention.

I maintain that the fans are there for baseball, not politics.
I’d just as soon have my baseball served up without any explicit Satanism, if that can still be arranged in Los Angeles.
You nailed it on it being about power. Living in the Seattle area and working at Starbucks Coporate, I drown in this stuff. We proudly (as in another psa email today) support paying for women to travel to have abortions and have ‘gender affirming’ care. I think some of it is the corporate class is now dominated by the woke left. I always say if you want to see where corporate America will be in 10 years, look at your college graduates today. That can be applied to medicine, law; any professional field really. This really does function as a secular religion. It’s got its pronoun rituals. Most people around here I know wouldn’t find this offensive because they find the idea of religion non serious, so it’s just comedy to them. Of course they’ll pay respect to eastern religions as it scratches their God shaped hole in their hearts but non of them seriously respect any of its tenants. Like all my progressive friends that pretend to respect Islam, but would never want to live under its yoke.
My local team had a fantastic sale on tickets… but only for the designated Pride Night.
Thus setting up a classic Jewish dilemma.
Scumbags.
The left lives on euphemisms. Its ideas cannot hold up without them.
The fantastic sale may indicate a perceived lack of demand.
Imagine that.
It brings to mind the story of the Cubs providing free tickets for some promotion during one of their many doldrums First prize was two tickets. Second prize was four.
Notice that captions refers to “LGBT members.”
Hasn’t happened yet, but I’m looking forward to looking up the attendance numbers.
Wouldn’t it be grand, if in the middle of the night, the stadium is struck by lightening… and the team goes on a 100 year losing streak?
In such a superstitious sport, why would anyone risk such blaspheme?
In a sport with so many Hispanic stars who are generally Catholic, why make your team a beacon of anti-Christian (and extremely anti-Catholic) sentiment?
Well, that too.
But a good baseball curse, is a little more inspiring than hearing the business model of alienating their most ardent fans. Dodgers, this buds for you!

To ask the question is to answer it.
Oh but that’s different. The Left has managed to make Islam an oppressed class that suffers from racism and colonialism and the rest of the isms, so such a parody would be hate speech.
Whereas the Sisters are good-natured fun, and they do charity! It is hateful to exclude them.
The Dodgers are probably banking on the fact that Catholics practice forgiveness eventually. The Left never does.
It is an opportunity. Too bad I’m not inclined to take it.
I think they have theme nights because baseball is so boring for 98 percent of the game. . .
/Ducking for cover for uttering such blasphemy!
😂😂😂
!!!
Fascinating.
The Kansas City Royals also faced a dilemma. They have a Pride night, which I assume they were pressured to do by MLB; but they draw from a socially conservative Midwestern fan base. You can get a Pride pennant if you buy your ticket through a special link, enter the ballpark through one designated gate, and show your receipt. All Pride events will take place inside a tent set up at that gate. Looks like they are trying to keep it as low key as possible.
I found it surprising, but good for London! I guess it makes sense, given the demographics.
My understanding is that you have to be Catholic by upbringing and/or schooling to join the Sisters. I wonder if they have a similar requirement to join the Imams?
Edit:
Well seek and ye shall find!

The rest of it Ricochet would probs agree with.
Oh wow. That is surprising. I wonder why the recent media has not mentioned this? There has to be a reason. It cannot be an oversight.
The media doesn’t really cover the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence that much either? The only ones who do that are the conservative press, and how would they sell the Imams to their readers?
Are we anti-sisters, in which case consistency would demand anti-Imams as well.
Are we pro-Imams, in which case – anyway, you see the issue. It’s safer not to cover and let people “feel” that it’s only Catholics who are mocked.
My brother and his wife moved out to San Diego a while back (just got back from visiting them a week or two ago). They love going to the Padres games, even though they’re both from New England and follow those regional teams for baseball, football, etc.
But they *love* going to the Padres games. I can guarantee the MLB leadership that they’re not going to the game for Free Frisbee Night or An Evening With Genitals, or anything else. It’s for the game, to relax and watch some baseball.
Why do we set ourselves on fire for no reason? Isn’t there a bridge that needs fixing somewhere? Meaning there’s a hell of a lot of need for productive work to be done. This signaling crap is not it.
Don’t be too proud. Very Midwestern.
Golly. To do that in a city with a big Muslim presence like London shows some real guts.
If they did that in Aleppo, Syria, I’d be even more impressed. Although I suspect that would be a short protest march.
I still disagree with them, though. I think mocking other people’s religion is unhelpful at best, and leads to more anger and conflict than problem solving.
So I question their judgement. But not their bravery.
I’ve actually watched some this year. It’s much better with the pitch clock.
It’s like stand up. It’s only funny if you mock your own tribe.
I like their whole Council for the Promotion of Vice and the Prevention of Virtue thing.
