Why “Let’s Go Brandon” Infuriates and Terrifies the Democrat Left
Background, ICYMI: An AP reporterette claims she heard a Southwest Airlines pilot say “Let’s Go Brandon” into his cockpit mic. (So far no audio or video has emerged to prove her statement.) She also claims to have done what any other suburban, privileged white woman would do and demanded to speak to the plane’s manager. (Banging on the cockpit door to try and get a statement from the pilot.)
Legit or not, this alleged incident has brought out the full fury and rage of the Democrat left, with one former Deep State Operative/current CNN employee comparing “Let’s Go Brandon” to supporting a terrorist group. Former Clinton administration official Joe Lockhart says it indicates “a broader problem” which one presumes is the fact that a lot of unionized pilots aren’t Democrats. Another Democrat/CNN contributor declares “Let’s Go Brandon” is MAGA code for “Sieg Heil.” (In fairness, they say that about pretty much everything the right does.)
The “Let’s Go Brandon” phenomenon both infuriates and terrifies the Democrat Left. They see it as both blasphemy and a potential electoral liability. Allow me to explain why their responses are so hyperbolic.
First, as Democrats say, The Personal Is Political,” and they really, really believe this. Most conservatives view politics as a necessary(?) evil, an annoyance, or a hobby; maybe a grift if you can get someone to pay you for writing or talking about politics. But politics are central in the Democrat and leftist identity. “Let’s Go Brandon” is something they take as a personal attack on their belief system, and it infuriates them; as a devout Christian would be outraged by a crucifix dunked in urine by a taxpayer-funded artist, or a Muslim would be from a drawing of Mohammed in a tutu.
Second, they are also frightened because their electoral sales pitch is based on “Democrats are cool, Republicans are uncool.” Millions of people have no clue what Democrat policies are, but vote for them simply because of the constant media and social messaging that “Democrats love and care for all people, animals, and trees. Republicans are greedy, racist, and stupid. Voting Democrat means you’re one of the good ones.” But if people feel comfortable reciting anti-Democrat slogans like “Let’s Go Brandon” in public spaces, that means the massaging is being rejected. If the messaging is being rejected on a massive enough scale, their grip on political power might slip. And political power means, literally not figuratively, everything to them.
And that terror and fury are exactly why they go ballistic over a level of affront a conservative or a Republican would shrug off and go on about their day.

Who is the vendor?
Where are the air marshals when you need them?
I didn’t think it could get better but it did. Steve Deace was wearing a “LGB” sweatshirt
– “Let’s Go Brandon!”

I can’t imagine what any of that might mean.
And I thought the Teacher’s Union would be handing these out in public schools across the nation.

LGB is organic, bottom-up, cheerfully contemptuous, and worst of all: euphemistic.
All the celebs and protestors who deployed the effenheimer at Trump were brave people, the resistance, putting their lives and careers on the line in an era akin to Weimar Germany. It had to be said! The people who would say F Biden today can be safely and quickly dismissed as rotten apples who tumbled out of the basket of deplorables. But a euphemism? It’s like the moment in Jurassic Park when they realized the velociraptors could manipulate doorknobs. They’re leaning, and adapting!
LGB contains none of the profanity they have prized for decades as the mark of an honest, truth-telling person. It alludes to their crass vulgarity, then bows mockingly and places a translucent cloth over the word they love so much, as if to shield their sensibilities. In its final form it doesn’t even bother with the cadence that suggests the hated sentiment, but falls naturally into three letters that occupy the same space as a favored identity.
Some are unhappy that rude politics are intruding into the space they previously deemed off-limits – i.e., the realm where liberal pieties defined the entirety of acceptable opinion – and that’s just delicious frosting on a Costco sheet cake.
I’m not quite sure what business of the reporter’s it was anyway.
She was working on an article about LGB and when she heard it, or thought she heard it, she figured it was her business calling.
So she stormed the cockpit. Idiot. Do that and ypu should expect to be treated like a terrorist.
I generally agree with the OP, but there also people on the right who take politics very personally. Multiple times on Ricochet I have seen the point being made that disparagement of Donald Trump is an attack on everyone who voted for him. One member with whom I had never had a hostile exchange replied to a comment of mine by saying “You hate Trump and you hate me.”
That’s sad. That attitude is a way of helping the Left, whatever the subject; it’s a step toward replacing religion with politics.
When I am asked what the difference is between a liberal and a conservative, I answer, “You can disagree with a conservative and still be a good person.”
Sometimes it is explicitly. Not so much on Ricochet.
Right? That’s why I’m curious why she wasn’t. Joe P. Average would be in the DC gulag.

Good point.

I like the LGBFJB Nation ones….
I am a member of the LGBFJB community. It has great intersectionality.
Unless you have the proper political alignment. Like her. Nothing was done to her.
Funny enough – she never interviewed any of her fellow passengers to get their reaction / agreement with her characterization.
Thank you all for the helpful ideas on how to find my history, I actually did find it before posting my comment, but without fully editing my post. You will find I highlighted the link in the word “bottom”
Maybe we can start taking pics of our subversion and post them in funny Political Memes……
Somehow I think if I were putting those stickers in places, I would wear gloves so as not to leave fingerprints.
The upshot of doing it gloved means everyone will think you are a Covidiot and not suspect you at all.
Not if you only put on the gloves for attaching stickers. But it’s getting colder, and some people wear gloves a lot at this time of year.
And lots of folks use latex gloves so that their hands don’t smell like gasoline.
This is really big. So short and brilliant it is taking on a form of it’s own. Here is a pic from my restaurant in MA. The owners said they didn’t put it there and why in the world should we remove it?
One week from now it will be the liberal COVID-20
