Um, this seems to be the PJ O’Rourke cast from last week . . .
too many people logging on all at once . . . I suppose?
The correct show appears on all of my browsers and in iTunes. Can you give me some more detail as to where and how you are hearing last week’s show?

First 1:12 is wrong.
The correct term for McAuliffe’s coalition is “rent seekers,” and I think you guys know quite a few of them are nominally in our party as well.
My i-tunes podcast list has this as “This Won’t Hurt” but introduction included PJ O’Rourke and not Mr. Robinson. The show seems to be the right one, it was the intro that was misleading.
Isn’t that the most unsanitary bunch you ever saw? No masks… hair showing…
Yep, everything indicates it’s the right one, but the first minutes has last week’s intro saying Peter is out, Dave is talking about Vegas, and PJ O’Rourke is the guest. Then after the opening montage, it’s this week’s podcast.
Yeah, same here… the first couple minutes of the version in iTunes is from last week. So that’s confusing, but the rest is rockin’.
Ha..James sent me the wrong intro. The actual show is the correct one. I’ll get that fixed ASAP.
This is my punishment for scheduling Radio Free Delingpole right behind this show. Makes this week’s closing song even more apt. D’oh.
Oh OK, guess I cut out too soon.
I think Mr. Likeks is playing a joke on us with the intro. It began with the tribute to Romney, and continues with the reference to HTML and then botching the intro completely. Keep it going!Incidentally, the rehab of Romney has begun since he obviously lost due to more lies than we ever thought.
Indeed; there are some fabulous podcasts at Russ Roberts’ Econtalk which help flesh out the concept of rent-seeking. In particular, Mike Munger has had lots to say about the odium of rent-seeking.
It is said, “a Conservative is a liberal who got mugged by reality”. A lot of people are getting and will get mugged by the reality of Obamacare.
When I downloaded from iTunes at 5:55AM EST on Thursday, the first 1:12 was still wrong.
I’m not complaining, just an FYI.
Rob, It’s the liberal entitlement compact vis a vis military industrial complex.. They live in clusters and given that they belong to the entitled class they walk around putting on Ayres.
I find it amusing when national folks talk about Virginia politics without any knowledge of the political atmosphere in the Commonwealth. Sarvis did not steal any votes from Cuccinelli; Sarvis voters, myself included, would’ve stayed home had there not been a third candidate on the ballot. The TEA Party has destroyed the Republican Party of Virginia, which was one of the most conservative state party apparati in the country before they got their grubby hands on the reins of power. On the bright side, though, we still hold the House of Delegates, and there is a chance of breaking the tie in the Senate, as the new Democratic Lieutenant Governor held a swing district. This last campaign was a race to the bottom.
A new version with the correct opening has been uploaded. Will probably take some time for it show up on the player and elsewhere. Thanks for the catch, everyone.
oh, nice. I was about to complain about it being the wrong podcast. :)

People who conspire for a living now outnumber people who work for a living. My definition of rent-seeking.
You’re doing God’s work, Blue.
I wish I had your job…

Damnit, man! We have like three threads going about this! Show up and talk about it!
Not for nothing, but stop pointing out all of BY’s flaws. He’s only human, you big whiner…

Enjoyed the podcast, especially Avik Roy. But I think the guys missed another reason 20-somethings don’t purchase health insurance.
We must remember what’s pounded into their heads from kindergarten the whole way through college:
-There are too many people on the Earth.
-People cause global warming/climate change.
-Humans are destroying the rain forests.
-There isn’t enough food for everyone.
-Abortion is the best medical procedure ever invented.
-There is no God; life isn’t special.
-The lives of Kurt Cobain/Amy Winehouse/Jimmy Hendrix/Jim Morrison are to be lauded and emulated.
-If it feels good, do it.
After all that and more, it’s no wonder we have young people who believe the world would be better off if they weren’t here. And frankly, buying health insurance is the opposite of not wanting to be here. One is wanting a long life; the other is hoping life is short.
Sure, cost is a part of it. And kids believing they’re going to live forever isn’t new. But, we shouldn’ forget the liberal crap in their heads that motivates their decisions as well.

Sure, throw James under the bus. :-)

I was doing no such thing.
I’m just letting him know so he can fix it. I gots his back.
Peter Rob James,
Works for me. Heather is stellar. She is 100% gold.
Regards,
Jim
Peter Rob James,
The problems are so deep and so profound…
Avik has it in depth up to the minute. He is dead on target and will pull the trigger.
Stay tuned, even the Debbie Wasserman Schultz Zombie Dems are going to get stomped. 93 million very cranky customers will start eating the dem zombies dead or alive.
Avik is tracking it all on his radar. I love it.
Regards,
Jim
Totally my fault for not not listening to it before I added it to the show. On closer examination, the file name even had last week’s date on it.
