Ricochet is the best place on the internet to discuss the issues of the day, either through commenting on posts or writing your own for our active and dynamic community in a fully moderated environment. In addition, the Ricochet Audio Network offers over 50 original podcasts with new episodes released every day.
We’ve got some debates town halls to cover, we’ve got a good old fashioned social media shadow banning scandal, Joe Biden’s son is bad at influence peddling, we had a Supreme Court nominee sail through her hearing, and we get into the nitty gritty on the 1619 Project. But most importantly, we spend some quality time with Kim Strassel, she of the Wall Street Journal, and one of the most ardent supporters of the President. We of course talk about that with her, also the Senate, the previously mentioned big tech/media controversy.

@blueyeti there is a huge problem with this cast. It goes dead air around the 42 minute mark and then when it does start up again I hear Peter asking a question over again, while Kim is giving the same answer.
Long dead spells and we never hear Kim starting at 46:32, then we hear Peter’s vehement agreement and then long dead air some more. Hearing Kim again at 48:16 with Peter talking over her.
Hi Folks, thanks for the heads up on this. Still getting used to the quirks involved with working with the audio files Zoom outputs — which is the reason the tracks got out of sync in the middle of the show (I can go into more detail if you’re interested, but I don’t recommend that unless you are having trouble falling asleep).
Regardless, it’s fixed now. If you have downloaded the show onto your mobile device, delete the version you have and re-download it and you’ll get the fixed version. My apologies.
Man, Zoom seemed so easy back in the 1970s a child could do it….
Lovely choice for a closing song.
I realize it’s standard Hollywood ethics to fall back on the trope that “everybody is doing it” but there are indications in the Hunter Biden exposés in both in the NYPost revelations and in the separate emails that have been made available to Peter Schweizer that federal crimes have been committed and national security may have been compromised.
and from the NYPost back on September 3rd (how time flies):
But hey, never mind how many millions the Bidens have made illegally, never mind that the Chinese, the Russians and other bad actors have information that they can blackmail a potential President of the United States with. Never mind that the Democrats and the MSM fraudulently attempted to blame Donald Trump with everything that Joe Biden and his family have been doing for decades and getting away with…because, you know…they’re no more corrupt than Donald Trump. What a crock.
Ah but you see, they’re actually geniuses! Because now that it’s out, after Biden takes office (at least for a little while, until Kamala takes over) they can just brush away all this stuff as “Old news, asked and answered, nothing to see, move along…”

I was 53% serious in the remark about impeachment articles filed on day one. This is how they want to play? Then this is how we’re going to play.
Or would it be better if we agreed, for the sake of national comity and healing and a return to normalcy, that we waved it away and gave him a pass? New start, and all that?
Fairness requires that we impeach one of theirs, first.
They’ve been talking new normal for a long time, they deserve a new normal.
We need to cobble up a bill of impeachment. Something to get the pot stirred. And let’s not leave Harris out, paying the bail for violent felons (not even in her family) is clearly a high crime.
It seems we’re at an impasse on a one-way bridge, and one party wants both ways. The Democrats would gladly return to a normalcy in which they could beat Republicans over the head with any lie that masqueraded as justified criticism. They were confident knowing there wasn’t enough stomach for pushback from a party more comfortable with trying to be nice and polite, than taking back a narrative that now has escalated to “you must be racist or sexist if you don’t condone riots or unrestricted abortion.” And they’d be happy with a return to the Mutual, Never-Do-Well Cronyism/Nepotism Club, because what’s the point in gaining all that political power if you can’t get your cousin a sweet job for a defense contractor? – certainly not to work for the livelihood of your constituents! We’ve seen this hand played many times before. If Republicans played the impeachment card, the Democrats counter with one tiny detail changing the rules of their Calvinball game and suddenly it’s Unprecedented! A Constitutional Crisis! A Threat to our Very Democracy! Business as usual.
I can’t understand why a guy from C-SPAN would seek advice from an obviously strange hedge fund guy. That is what Scaramucci is. He’s a loose cannon. Plus he has an agenda.
Have you noticed people say the country is divided when a Republican is President but not a Democrat?
Return to normalcy?
Trump voters don’t want a return to normalcy
Also, this is more plagiarism from Biden (Warren Harding’s phrase)
This is a great speech on this topic. Act accordingly.
I agree, democrats should live by the rules they have enforced on others. President Biden wants a Secretary of State? Maybe next month, they should slow walk every nominee, investigate every aspect of their lives, resist everything. See how snippy President Biden gets.
The Post series of articles, if they are to be believed, are informing Americans that the Biden family is striving to match the Clintons for corruption and personal enrichment while in office. Yet I hear from Trump-hating people that he and his family is corrupt, even evil. I’d like to focus on Trump’s time in office. For all of the talk about Trump and his family’s corruption, besides the Ukraine phone call which was inane, I haven’t heard one thing that indicates that he’s done anything corrupt as president, let alone anything similar to what Hunter and other family members have been doing. Am I the only person who hasn’t heard of actual corruption by Trump or personal enrichment by his family in office?
This is the mother of all articles about the efficacy of masks and lockdowns, vs. the damage they cause. I don’t see how you can argue with any of it.

Related to this conversation, I highly recommend the David Webb on SiriusXM interview of Dr. Ron Martinelli about Black Lives Matter. Revolution by any means necessary and all of that. Also Joe Pags had a great interview with an exx-antifa guy Friday night. It was halfway through the show.

It’s very depressing the Biden’s wacky pronouncements about busing from the 70s are being kept out of the media. —————————————————————————————————————————————-
It’s absolutely amazing how many crimes Ilhan Omar has committed and she’s not getting in any trouble at all. She’s just paid her old man $3 million for election services.
Someone please tell me if Roberta is even more intolerable this week than last. If so, I will count Peter’s conversation with VDH, who is astronomically more intelligent and wise than either Rob or James, as my dose of Ricochet for the week. Thank you!
@rdowhower: A correction please. No one is more intelligent and wise than James. He observes comity for the sake of the podcast and I believe we should be grateful for that.
Here’s why we still need Rob. Set aside his chortling over the anticipated downfall of Trump. I can abide all that in exchange for his trenchant observations like this one: the campus mania for disavowing our Western legacy is just another way of saying “I don’t wanna have to read these books!”
I think Rob was the same level of intolerable this week. From the comments on the GLoP episode, he was more intolerable there. Not sure if I’ll get around to it.
Listen to it anyway. Just because someone critical of Trump speaks doesn’t mean you get to turn up your nose and cover your ears. It’s only a podcast.
It’s not that he’s critical of Trump it’s just that he never has anything new to say. As I’ve observed elsewhere, he’s trapped in the world of the 80s when he was on top of the world and the Gipper was in the Oval Office never ever making any mistakes in anything he did or said, so his analysis stems from the old tired conservativism of that age that has proved impotent. Couple that with the elite bubble he’s trapped in and it is just boring and grating, so why should I subject myself to it?
No, James is living in the past in his make believe nostalgic world where his paper isn’t a partisan rag. I know. I work in the building immediately next door and the things he has to say about today’s Minneapolis and Minnesota are ridiculous. It’s a ghost town and not a very nice one at that.
Harding gets credit for coining “normalcy.” “Return to normalcy” would be a quote, or a callback, or something.
But of all the Republican presidents to quote: Warren G. Harding? It’s a good thing for Joe that his base is historically illiterate.
Now that’s worthy of a podcast.
