They say you are the company you keep. Dr. Jay Bhattacharya learned that the hard way after he started cavorting with a bunch of fringe lunatics bent on killing grandmas — Or no, wait… the other thing. It was time spent with fellow reputable, highly credentialed scientists that got him into trouble. With the released Twitter files that show he was placed on an actual blacklist, he returns to discuss the scientists who want to rule the world and his challenge to their authority.

Plus: Charles (filling in for Rob) gives his take on Kyrsten Sinema’s independence and the Griner trade, and Peter tells us about his meeting with Bibi Netanyahu.

Collecting ballots from the disinterested and the infirmed. It’s disgusting.

There are certain dimensions of initiative and interest you need to have or it’s not American to do this.

Why should any ballots be collected before 10 days out?

I think in most countries 90% are just SOL if they aren’t in town on the election day. Very little latitude about this.

Raaaacism, any attempt to limit voting to legal qualified voters is called racism, why would anyone be against voter ID who didn’t intend to cheat. Of course the Stupid Party has never fought back against the racism charge thrown at them by the party of the KKK and Jim Crow.

Anyone else get the feeling that Charlie Cooke is still hearing what the media claims Trump says, and not what Trump actually says?

That and he laughingly said that Trump lost fair and square in 2020. It was anything but fair and square.

I like something I heard Glenn Loury say. Paraphrasing as I heard it on his podcast a while ago: Trump lost. They cheated, but they cheated fair and square and got away with it and it is not going to change.

Just because someone gets away with something doesn’t mean it was “fair and square.”

Yes, collecting and turning in ballots might be legal, but the ballots are still supposed to be filled in by the named voter.  If that wasn’t done legitimately, then just gathering and turning them in doesn’t make it ALL legal.

The way to say it is, it’s set up for bad faith actors. The whole thing is too legalistic and “technically” OK.

Plus when you look at the geographic distribution of the democrat voters and the Republican voters, it totally favors the Democrat Ballot harvesting.

    ect.

So I thought really hard. Really hard. Really, really hard.

We could make all of the voters wear body cams.

We could hire hundreds of thousands of “ballot police”.

That’s all I came up with.

My point was that while “ballot harvesting” might be technically legal in that people are legally allowed to gather up even large numbers of ballots in some states, and take them to a drop box or whatever; for the ballots to be legal they still had to be legally voted by the person they were sent to.  But the media etc seem to just stop at the fact that it might have been legal for them to be collected and taken to a drop box.  The chances that the ballots were all voted legally is somewhere between low and zero.

Thanks to Dr Jay for calmly verbalizing many of my thoughts and opinions about the terrible handling of these self created scientific, biological, and bureaucratic errors and crimes against humanity. As Elon Musk tweeted awhile ago:

    My pronouns are Prosecute/Fauci

Edit: Now I see that Dr Jay was making the rounds and visiting Elon Musk within a day or two of making this podcast. He tweeted a short thread about it. Perhaps his visit here was just a warm up for his conversation there.

I like this podcast. I like James, I like Peter, I like the addition of Charlie, and I like Rob. I take my toddler out for very long walks and in the cold, gray, dour Minnesota winters when I’m burned out on rehashing the same political arguments for the 152nd time, I can always turn to these gentlemen and find myself with an upward turn at the corners of my mouth rather than the usual scowl. I my not always agree, but I usually learn something and think a little more about my priors.

Thanks for taking the chill off — and heck, it’s not even the end of December. I still have five months of winter to get through!

Well, at least it’s Minneapolis and not Duluth where they have a half-week of summer and no spring.

Investigators in Wisconsin turned up a bunch of nursing homes with 100% “voter turnout”.

Democracy is when senile voters have votes cast on their behalf to elect a mentally impaired President.
