I like your excitement for DeSantis ideas on how to dismantle 4th branch of government, but this is very much unlike being a governor in a state with supermajorities in both legislatures and a friendly set of courts – it will go the same way that Trumps EOs went, gaveled out by rando federal judge in Hawaii, 2 years creeping through courts, SCOTUS refuses to take the case, Romney and McConnel and Co. kill the bill in the Senate, yadda yadda.

And I agree with you that he IS proposing things, but … so did the last guy, and he was stopped by the courts, the 4th branch, his own party, and the legislative system we have requiring super-majorities for legislation (assuming he has both houses). I like proposals, and I like DeSantis proposals and Trump proposals, which there are A LOT of at his site. Bottom line I think anything that one can do, so can the other.

Look forward to more from DeSantis. I’ll support whomever wins. I think DeSantis has a cooler head and more experience in leading a team of executive branch employees to bring change, but I also think that I am hearing very little new stuff from him that’s not already on the next Trump agenda – which is good because they are likely going to go after similar things. I’d also like to see him say more that upsets the old GOP guard. Trump will likely always be Trump, but he is also unique in his not being part of this DC set. I’ll let it all play out.

My disagreement on the take that Trump will lose again has been stated in other forums (short take: he barely lost by 40k votes spread over 3 states in a covid lockdown mass ballot “fortified” election to someone that represented normalcy – the results have been anything but normal, a senile guy, runaway inflation, and bribery/corruption charges that were suppressed before last election) but there is no reason to think he wouldn’t win this time around.

Will he? Dunno. But I like the two front runners so I’m coo.

Thanks for the pod Jon! Always listen even if I don’t comment.

You and Byron York had the same trouble when discussing the shameful display at the White House. You both slowed down to make sure you hit each letter of the Alphabet Mafia. There was also the confusion of what sex participants really are. You can apply two lessons I learned here from Ricochet members. First, just pronounce it El Jibbity. Don’t worry about additional letters unless you want to make sure the P for pedophiles is there. Second, replace trans with fake to find truth. The transwoman exposing the bolt-ons is a fake woman. As some comedian once said, they aren’t chicks with Ds but dudes with boobs.
