Novelist John J. Jacobson

The King of Stuff talks with John J. Jacobson about his new novel, All the Cowboys Ain’t Gone., about a would-be cowboy who joins the French Legion and fights a death cult, Indiana Jones style. Publishers Weekly calls it a “rollicking debut … and a ride worth taking.” John and Jon talk about the book, the creative process, and conservatism in publishing. Then Jon talks about the Armenian genocide and Biden’s mixed signals on masks.

I really enjoyed your interview with John J. Jacobson and was inspired to download his book on Audible.

On the Armenian genocide, watch The Promise, a moving and visually luscious story about that horrific event. It was made in 2016 by a group of prominent Armenians in the US but its distribution was blocked by the Turkish lobby. Jude Law has a role in it. You can get it on Netflix.

I love this episode! The conversation was wholly engrossing – I very much appreciate Jon asking Mr. Jacobson about his literary journey, and hearing Jon’s own experiences slogging through some of the great books. Touching on the vilification of the Western canon and dropping some of the classic epics is truly to deprive kids the opportunity to learn that the basic characters and characteristics- the struggles, victories, and moralities- common through time are also common across humanity. It is a binding, not divisive story. Thank you for a great show and for adding another book to my reading list!
