The Media vs. #MeToo

The Conservatarians (aka, Jon Gabriel and Stephen Miller) discuss the media’s undercoverage of the USA Gymnastics scandal and try to make sense of the latest Mueller news, the missing FBI texts, and #ReleaseTheMemo.

Our intro and outro music is “Sid” by Clean Spill. Jon’s song of the week is “Iron Lung” by Black Marble and Stephen’s is “Leave It in My Dreams” by The Voidz. To listen to all the music featured on The Conservatarians, subscribe to our all-new 2018 Spotify playlist!

There is so much more to the Dr. Larry Nassar  case than what was discussed in this podcast. He is/was a medical doctor that had been doing this exam/treatment for at least 21 years. many instances with the parent in the room.

If your interested there are 3 or 4 articles in the Friday January 26 Hearld Palladium (Saint joseph/Benton Harbor, Michigan). They are written by A.P. reporters and Staff reporters. The most reveling one in my opinion is on page 2 by David Eggert and Tammy Webber of the A.P.. The article on page 2 of the sports page by A.P. reporters Larry Lage and Mike Householder. They recount how Dr. Nasser was investigated and cleared in 2014. In the previous article it is described how he was investigated and cleared as using medically appropriate actions in 2004. It’s not clear which police agency was involved in either case.

There is all sorts of blame to go around but nothing is ever a case of black and white. He was already in prison serving a long sentence. As I remember he had told everyone that he had a new method of treating female gymnasts. He was believed by other medical people and the parents of the girls he told would be better gymnasts because of his treatment. This was believed because of his wall of photos and thank you notes  from previously treated girls. It took along time before any of the girls that complained were believed. It would be interesting to see if he admitted that the medical break through he touted was just to get his jollies and if any other Sports Doctors learned and used his methods.

Sorry I am one of they out of it (late 70’s) conservatives that has no idea how to link the various articles to this comment. Hence the quip “if you are interested” I’m sure the A.P. writers are listed somewhere and the Hearld Palladium has a link.

Probably could wait for the book. It will be an interesting read.
