Ricochet is the best place on the internet to discuss the issues of the day, either through commenting on posts or writing your own for our active and dynamic community in a fully moderated environment. In addition, the Ricochet Audio Network offers over 50 original podcasts with new episodes released every day.
Spring has sprung, and that means young (or middle-aged) men’s fancies turn to unisex bathrooms, zombies, and the complete abdication of common sense from the minds of New York voters (but not in that order). Consider yourself warned.

At end of podcast, the guys are complaining about stupid movie clichés. Here’s my big bugaboo about TV shows and movies: they get odds inverted. THEY INVERT ODDS RATIOS. EVERY. DAMNED. TIME. GAHHHH!!! (Only once in years did I see it done correctly.)
A character wants to indicate that an event is or was exceedingly unlikely, and he declares the odds — not against the event, but for the event — are(were) a MILLION TO ONE. Not one in a million (1/1,000,000), which it should be, but 1,000,000/1. Likewise, they’ll declare that the odds of an event that’s supposed to be rare are astronomical, instead of infinitesimal.
Drives. Me. Crazy.
Another thing, though, about the podcast: earlier in it, Rob said he was just exhausted with the whole primary season, and thought maybe many other people are, too.
Here are the people who are tired: people who are incessantly bloviating about it, and insisting — whether because it’s their turn of mind, or because their jobs require it — on predicting outcomes of unforeseeable events over and over and over.
Of course they’re exhausted. But, I’M not tired. I believe normal people are not tired.
That is exactly what they said about Reagan in 1980.
The populism of Trump reminds me of Derek Jacobi’s Senator in Gladiator: “I am not of the people, but I am for the people.” But Jacobi was, if I remember correctly, intended as a benignant, FDR-type paternalist. If Trump is for the people, then I must politely decline to be for the people. (The same impulse that makes me avoid attempts to make Shakespeare ‘relevant’).
Thank you for the info on the NC law. I didn’t know, because I’ve been avoiding it like the zombie apocalypse (appropriately). But surely Jonah must have had a conversation in which his interlocutor insisted that a federal imposition was necessary, because otherwise he, Jonah, therefore supports denial of service on grounds of race?
To second the point: we English rhyme vase with bars.
This podcast was easily the worst of the history of GLoP.
Oh? I’m tired of it, and I’ve checked out of most threads about it. I can point you to people more sick of it than me. That’s among people who actually pay attention to politics. It’s worse among the, ah, low information types who pay little to no attention to it at all.
If you’re on Ricochet, there’s a good chance you’re a politics junkie. Nothing wrong with that, but I’d hesitate to assume that your tolerance for politics is typical of the general populace. Just like I’d love to hear Isaiah’s Job debate Jonah Goldberg on the nuances of D&D rules, but I doubt the rest of you would.
Well. If you’re gonna cite data, I’ll just take my marbles and go home…. ;)
That, I most emphatically am not. I’m a fundamental-principles junkie. Political junkies drive me nuts.
I haven’t listened to a Ricochet podcast for at least a month. I threw in the towel on this one after 23 minutes.
G and Lo are leaking well earned credibility, P has an empty tank. Sorry

Speaking of that, why aren’t titles and artists of opening and closing songs given anymore?
Yes, but why support Trump when Cruz is available?
No it’s not. I hear a lot of good music on the podcasts that I then want to download. It’s rude not to tell listeners what they’re listening to.
I meant it’s OK to be enigmatic with the selection of the closing songs. I agree that we can do a better job of posting the song titles. Will start doing that on the shows we use closing music on. And always feel free to ask, either in the comments or by PM’ing me.
Ahh. OK. And, thanks, in advance, for posting song data.
So basically what they are saying is they want a Zombie version of Jericho or The 100. Both the shows deal with issues like how to rebuild society that they say the love to hear about. Even then The 100 sort of has zombies anyways.
